"Hurt So Bad" is a song written by Teddy Randazzo, Bobby Weinstein, and Bobby Hart. It is a classic 1965 Top 10 hit ballad originally recorded by Little Anthony & The Imperials. Linda Ronstadt also had a Top 10 hit with her cover version in 1980. The song has been re-recorded by numerous artists including The Lettermen, who took the song to number twelve in September 1969.

Love LINDA! Such a pretty lady with that BIIIIG VOICE! The first time I ever heard her was on The Muppet Show singing her hit Blue Bayou on a beautiful swamp cabin set with Muppet frogs ribiting the rhythm! 😂 She really let’s her voice soar on that track. Also, it just occurred to me that Hurt So Bad is like a prequel to Alanis Morissette’s You Oughta Know. Like it’s the same girl at an earlier stage of the ex emotions where she still wants him back, then Alanis takes it up when she’s tipped over the edge… Even the soft on the verses/loud on the chorus vibe is there.

Most of us guys who grew up in the 70s had a big time crush on her....combine her looks plus her great voice... a woman who looks and sounds like her giving an impassioned scream of NO like that....no way amI walking out on her.

One of the most talented female singers on the planet. Linda could sing anything and make it better than the original. She was the first female rocker to fill arenas in the 1970’s. You won’t find a bad song by this woman!

Linda is the Queen of The Cover Songs! Not to take away anything from the original artists, but there's not one song she has redone and made it better imo. And you called it Empress, the magic (in addition to Linda's powerhouse vocals) is that drum, and searing guitar solo! Do check out more of her catalog. She crosses over every genre having helped create the 70s Southern California country rock sound along with the Eagles (her original backup band), America, Rick Nelson and his Stone Canyon band. The vocal harmonies you'd love them!

Thanx for the recommendation and this context🥰 its interesting to me how back in the day it was cool for artists to cover songs, today that would seem sorta weird 😂 Like Ariana releasing a Beyonce song - I couldn't imagine it. But, Linda definitely impressed me everything was 🔥🔥🔥

You're right babe, this songs rocks. It's a forgetten 80s gem. And "powerhouse" as you stated in your video is such an accurate way to describe Linda. She was one of the top selling artist back in the day.

@@renatasingslindaronstadtss4257 It was written by Elvis Costello, and is on one of his albums, but Linda's version gives me chills. Not quite as much as the whole What's New? album, but still one of her stand out performances, for sure. Kudos to Elvis for writing such a beautiful song!

Linda had an incredible voice! She's one of my favorite singers next to Stevie Nicks and Olivia Newton-John! After playing in Linda's band for years, Waddy Wachtell who was her guitar player, would go and join the band that Stevie Nicks was putting together for her "Bella Donna" album and he's played with her ever since. Also in her first touring band, she had an unknown drummer named Don Henley and an unknown guitar player named Glenn Frey. The two of them soon after that would start a little band known as The Eagles!

This is an incredible single! Ronstadt mastered California Rick in the 1970’s! This single and “How Do I Make You” were great New Wave singles that ushered her into the next decade! “Mad Love” album is an excellent album because it was a transition album and was the beginning of Ronstadt expanding her voice with different genres! There was a great documentary on her life from last year called: “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound Of My Voice” which definitely worth seeing! I love how she can sing very vulnerable and shift gears so seamlessly to a sound of empowerment! Speaking of covers, I recommend you reacting to her version of “Tracks Of My Tears” (Smokey Robinson & The Miracles) along with the music video of her singing this in the studio! Another stunning favorite that comes to mind is “Long Long Time”💕

I love how her voice merges with the screaming guitar. One of the best songs I’ve heard in my entire life. I wore out my Mad Love cassette in college. Try listening to her duet with Aaron Neville, Don’t Know Much.

Hey, D, great reaction video as usual. By the way "Hurts So Bad" was released in February of 1980. In 2013, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease but late last year, doctors determined that she has progressive supranuclear palsy and as a result, she announced her retirement from performing in 2011. Looking forward to seeing what you posted next.
