I have that ground cover that Stuart likes, in masse, burgundy glow....its amazing, and in full bloom right now. I have had friends come over and take chunks to take home with them, and they love it. And I have been kicking up my ground cover usage because, as you know Linda, we are aging, and my garden is still big, mulch is a huge chore, that I really want to cut out a little more each year. I absolutely love how your backyard turned out!

My mother-in-law lived in Agua Dulce, in South Texas. She grew geraniums on the sunny west side of her house in full sun. There was a lot of sand in her soil and her plants would get 4 feet tall, and looked like a shrub across the front of her house. She lived near a busy road that leads to Corpus Christi and people would stop and take photos of her huge geraniums. The only thing I can think of that might have made them so profuse was the sandy soil. I don't believe she ever fertalized them.

I grow Patriot geraniums which endure hot Texas weather much better than older varieties. They suffer in August, BUT by the end of September, they have gathered strength and vigor and bounce back with beautiful fall blooms. Mine lasted this year from an early March planting to January 13 of the next year! WOWZA!

One of my passions is the artistic pruning of Japanese maples. I like that you demonstrated structural pruning, along with leaf pruning. I’ve read how both are used, especially for weeping Japanese maples.

Great advice about thinning out the Japanese maple.... I have a very bushy green maple that I limbed up last year and trimmed but didnt thin. Now after seeing this I feel I can get some of the density out. Your backyard looks fantastic Linda! I absolutely love your large brick "rug", it is so unique!!

I'm admiring the gorgeous geraniums behind you -one of my very favorites. Thankfully they do well all year in my Zone 10 location all year and I have a variety of colors in different areas. I love your application of "mise en place" to gardening! I love that term for cooking and should keep it in minds for gardening - or do a better job of it than I already do

Ok well I was in value village and found a silver tray that is lovely patina’d .it was 7.99, then a silver candle holder which had almost turned black, brought it home and made a pretty vignette on my table. My husband was impressed! I told him I was channeling my inner Linda Vater! 😂😂

Glad your dream of a very beautiful garden has come true! We downsized recently and have been clearing out but hope to be planting diligently soon as weather should improve. I think I better take your advice and shop at Lowe's.. Shrubs ordered on line look healthy but small so now are in pots. I like all of your many topiaries. Thank you, for your fun video and enjoyed watching you taking care of your plants putting them in pots, loosening roots, and pruning your Japanese Maple.

Tapered pots like that need weight in the bottom or they tip over in the wind. DO NOT FILL WITH CRUSHED CANS, STYROFOAM PEANUTS, PLASTIC BOTTLES. I (LIKE YOU) reuse old potting soil.

I really like your fire bowl. I think it's the Solo brand? Target carries a smaller version and an even tinier one for S'mores. 😁 I'm enjoying working in my garden. I've received some plants I ordered over winter and I'm having fun deciding where to plant them. My favorite tool is my cordless reciprocating saw. I should have used it to divide some hostas next to my driveway and repurposing them to other spots in my garden. I've been meaning to do this for 3 years! I've got plans to crrate a fun hanging basket with dichondra silver falls and up top some dusty Miller.
