In this video, I show you how to make your own trendy cellphone sling. I have printable pattern pieces for the D Ring Accent and Strap Accents available for a small fee on my website here: lindshandmade....
(The strap accent template is the same pattern piece used in our Mav Pack and Guardian Anti-theft backpack patterns, so if you already own either of those patterns, then you already have the template!)
If you’d like to make a cute little pouch to attach to the d ring, here’s the video for that: • DIY Zippered Pouch
Hardware/supplies needed:
• (1) 1½” rectangle ring
• (1) 1½” strap adjuster
• (2) 1” swivel clasps
• (1) ½” d ring
• (1) 1” or smaller gate ring
• (1) cellphone tether tab
• Small amount of vinyl/cork/leather for the strap and d ring accents
• 57" of 1½” wide webbing
• Adhesive of choice.

About the time the Mav came out, I came across a tutorial for a similar guitar strap and I’ve been making mine like that. I use a 1 1/2 D-ring and double fold my webbing with the D-ring in the fold. It fit my “style” because I always added a small ring to children clothes I made for clipping on decorations. Thanks for the tutorial.

Thank you for this tutorial. I only had issues sewing the D ring area. My zipper foot didn't like that spot. HAHA. Now I won't lose my phone this weekend when I go to Lousiana for Mardi Gras!

I just made a couple today. Didn’t realize the pattern was so new. I plan on making some to give out at Pride this month. It’s such a fun, happy, and practical bag. I just need to make some flat boxy bags to go with them. I’m thinking the strap would be good for attaching keys to as well instead of the phone for when you need work keys easily accessible. Mine are bulky as I have to have pepper gel on them. Looking forward to making more later this week.

Help!! I just got a Brother Scan n Cut for Christmas and tried using the files that go with it but it cuts the tabs too small. What am I doing wrong?

Hmm I don’t own one of those machines but from what I’ve heard from group members is they often load the wrong size and need to be resized before cutting. Make sure to verify the 1” test box and the measurements listed on the pattern pieces before cutting.

I have't used it long, but it is sturdy, it is a thick jelly vinyl. The ones I purchased from Amazon, were made of a thinner fabric and wonder how long they will hold up. @@suncoast215

Can you use 1" webbing instead of 1-1/2"?

Yes of course! The strap accents will be too wide though so you’ll want to make those narrower as all (if you choose to use them)

If we are using a 1/2" d ring how does that work when the tab is 3/4"? Mine is coming out scrunched.

The tab HEIGHT is ¾”. The width would obviously need to be ½” wide to accommodate your hardware.
