John comes and rides again. Boy, what a wonderful artist! I'm glad someone's at last covered pen and wash in a how-to-do-it style. It's been a long overdue, perhaps since Girtin. Thank you John.

As an architect myself I totally agree with John Hoar´s view on this way of dealing with watercolour. The DVD is such a great inspiration, thank you!

John does not use a pen but a sharpened matchstick stuck into a piece of bamboo which he explains in some details in the fuill length DVD.

Yes, great, especially as a kind of work of traditional hand-made architecture rending! I also wish to know what kind of pen do you use, is it self-made of can be bought from dealer? Thank you.

@TownHouseFilms Too much good. What does it use for drawing before stretching the color? Thanks

See the reply to the same question previously posted below. John explaines this in full detail in the DVD.

John uses mostly an oval sky wash brush and a sword liner in this film. Am I sure? Well as I spent three days filming with him I should think so wouldn't you?

what type of brush does he use and what size?

Thanks for your reply. Yes - I think you would be the authority on what you saw there - ha ha! :) And what about the pencil? Do you know what type? The line looks very thick but light to me.

I have the full John Hoar DVD and the brush on screen looks like a flat brush to me - not an oval brush as stated by TownHouseFilms. Are you sure that it is oval?
