As someone who owns NK creams, they definitely belong in the B tier in 2022. Not only are they scratchy even after lubing and breakdown, the stem wobble is pretty bad compared to many switches at the same price point. They were probably A tier when released, but definitely not S tier by any means.

When I first watched your linear switch review, I was so confused why you were meh on tangerines and loved creams. It's funny because now I love creams as well and am a little colder on tangerines. I actually agree with this tierlist having most of the switches on it besides the cjs, husky, keyfirst creams myself. edit: I should also note that I'm using creamsicles now. So best of both of my 2 favorite switches.

I don't know if you've tried them but the Gateron Pro Silvers are surprisingly good. They have less stem wobble than the Yellow/Red Pros and are almost on par with the Aqua Kings. They are also very close to the kings in smoothness given the factory lube. I compared them side by side and I couldn't believe how tight and smooth they were.

Don't have to get defensive. You can have your opinion and I can have mine. 26/30.... oh yeah B tier. Lol I'm going to venture a guess that your original Epsilon hasn't been updated to reflect your new opinon bc people actually spend money based on these reviews. "I really, really, really ,really like these switches." = B Tier. Sounds like a bait and switch to me.

@@5ean5ean22 I know, my exclamation marks were meant in excitement rather than aggression. And yeah I get your point, I hyped the Epsilons up a bit in the review. First of all, if i were you i would put the aqua kings to A tier, because the fact that the stem doesn't have place to wobble is a problem when lubing them, means that that if you press the switch down then release it, the lube will all be pushed out of the switch, and if you use it for a while, it will basically feel like stock.

The CJs and Epsilons are B tier, which is still good! Those two in particular were objectively very good switches, but they weren’t unique enough for me to put them higher… Black Ink is A Tier! Very very good just not elite in my opinion. As for the Banana Splits, they are alright but I think something very similar like an Aplaca or Tangie do a better job for a smooth slightly high pitched linear. But hey! If you prefer them that’s fair game, they were one of the most requested switches I do for a reason, defo very popular

I bought a 81 switch tester. And my two favorite switches on there were I think the Novel Cream and Cherry Red Silent. I want a silent switch next so I can game at night and not disturb anyone. I’m thinking getting Durock Dolphin. From the board my favorite linear was definitely the Novel Cream. Favorite Clickys was The Kailh Speed Pale Blue and Box Blue and also Box Jade and Box Navy was good too but I don’t think I’m a fan of heavy switches. I think my favorite tactile on their was the Royal Purple and the other purple by Kailh . My least favorite switch was the regular burnt orange switch not the box one it felt real heavy even though heaviest switch was probably box navy maybe has to do with the spring .

@tom_types
@tom_types Жыл бұрын
Funnily enough, I rate the creams a bit lower now - I would totally recommend the Oil Kings and Aqua Kings though, either of those you’d love. The Oil Kings are a bit more versatile, slightly lower pitch sound, bit quieter, not quite as smooth but its fairly close

I think a lot of long pole stem linears are a bit better - when I tried Creams for the first time I hadn’t used any other long pole linears and I think thats a big part of why I liked them originally. @@tom_types thanks for your take! So atm you would prefer POMs over creams? A new one come into the battle.. the North Pole.. from the reviews it should be even more smooth and tight than the aqua kings but therefore a little bit less deep.. what do you think about North Pole vs aqua king?

I think people overvalued smoothness so much. A lot of smooth feeling switches feel soulless to me. Like they feel good but they sound cheap or dull? I have tried black inks yesterday, lubed and filmed and it was probably the worst switch that I have ever tried (on a brass plate).. immediately went back to my Holy Bobas.. planned to go back to linears but I just couldn't. still searching for a linear that offers a full sound while being not too scratchy.. NK creams seem interesting but I also know that they are infamous for their scratchiness. Edit: I have just found a few sample creams in a drawer that some shop send me with an order and idk, stock creams seem to be hell, a lubed cream comes close to my tactiles in sound, while being linear.. it is a fine switch but idk, I wish there was something with a sound that is even fuller. Maybe I need to foam my board up even more, like switchlayer foam or something. The PE foam mod and the tapemod improved the sound of my board by quite a bit but it is still not perfect, but close. It is definitely not easy to find the "perfect switch" without spending tons of money. A tester is nice but I really need to use an entire board with whatever switches on it to get a feeling for what I am typing on. My favorite linears are the Durock POMs but even they suffer from some inconsistencies. Leaf ping is an issue that I have yet to not experience on a linear switch.
@tom_types
@tom_types 2 жыл бұрын
I mean it sounds like you’re a tactile gang member! It’s hard to go back to linears after using nice tactiles like Holy Bobas… they are just so different! The only thing I’d look for in linears maybe is long pole stem switches - they have long stem poles and a much cleaner bottom out sound (like alot of tactiles generally)
@PinePizza
@PinePizza 2 жыл бұрын
@@tom_types this could be the thing I might be looking for.. I really like a pronounced bottom out and that one specific, full sound. I know that other factors play a role but man, these inks shocked me.. I spend like 3 hours lubing and filming them and once I put them into my board I was so disappointed. Never experienced that before lol

What really grinds my gears about ALL these switch lists, tests and whatever: They NEVER have plain Cherry MXs as as reference... Also Silver Cherries are my favorites up to now, but I have f**k all idea where they rank compared to anything...
@tom_types
@tom_types Жыл бұрын
You’re right! I feel once people get into the hobby, even a bit, Cherry seems to drop off in popularity quite a bit. There’s nothing wrong with Cherry switches, its just some other manufacturers do better jobs of tactiles, or smoothness stock or sound. The only Cherry in my list is the Hyperglides for reference, but equally my lists are purely subjective so it’s hard to say, I think I have a decent taste in switches but I certainly have a preference now that will be different to people. Overall, I’d say 90% of Cherry switches would end up in the C or D tier for me - they are a good starting point for people but there are so much better out there

NK Creams! Clack means different things to different people though… they have a slightly higher pitched sound, loud, not thin or plasticy sounding (nice solid and deep). Other choices would be Durock POMs

Mechboards, Keebcats and Keycrox are all ones I’ve used a few times - but for full kits and parts in stock I still think KBDFans are one of the best for a beginner… after that it’s group buys

Its hit and miss, many sellers factor in taxes and stuff, but I’ve had the occasional import that the couriers demanded tax before I got the item…

Yeah, so I’ve used Kinetic Labs Long springs in my Black Cherry Pies and tried Spirit Short Progressive springs in my Gateron CJs…. I bought a few different types recently I might do a video on it soon

1,000 😍 I bought a set of Aqua Kings about 5 months ago when I stumbled on your channel. Cleaned them down. Lubed them, then just put them in a Kilner jar as I wanted to buy a new board to put them in…. 🤦‍♂️ Would be interested in a tactile version of this video; primarily as I don’t know much about tactiles.

just bought the nk creams after buying the aquas and i’m shocked you even put them in the same tier, these creams feel like poop in comparison and are so scratchy and so pingy compared to the aquas i’m in disbelief lowkey

So the gateron creams are not good if you film and lube. I heard the novel creams are scratchy too until you lube them. I like the low price and color way of the gaterons.
