I got these because my Airpod Pros I have to keep pushing in while doing bag work. I like to do kickboxing rounds to get heart rate up in between treadmill sessions. Airpods just fall out when I start throwing hard kicks on the bag. The pros come loose and I have to keep readjusting. These stay in place which is one of the reasons I got them. You were using Apple music which the volume sucks on eve with Airpod pros. Try it with Iheartradio app instead. Sounds so much better than Apple music. I have Apple music because of the icloud backup for family. I have tried to like apple music but it sucks. Songs dont sound near as good and volume is way too low. Iheartradio on 80 is like Apple musics 100. The way it knows what you like music wise is 1000 times better too. Literally nobody in my house uses apple music app even though they all have it. Kids prefer spotify, I prefer Iheartradio and wife prefers pandora. Apple music app sucks lol Try it with Iheartradio app and you will like it. Even Airpods sound better with that app.

Hey I am a bit confused by your review and think I may know what's up. I picked these up yesterday from my local Sony dealer. I also wondered about the sound quality when I initially put them in and played some music. However, Once I got them situated properly for my ears they sound fantastic. I think because they are a different shape it requires a wee bit more fiddling with than other earth design headphones. If they are slightly misaligned in your ears the sound can change significantly.

Bass on the Linkbuds is perfectly fine for me. It doesn't look like Max has them fitted in his ears properly - I don't have anywhere near as much wing tip visible, and they are more than loud enough - my ears are destroyed from years of dj'ing and still I don't need them beyond 60% volume. Sound is much warmer than the Galaxy Buds Live but less airy soundstage. Detail is better than the Airpods 3

Also, the point of these headphones is to let all outside noise through. That is why there is a big hole in the middle of it. Everybody knows it is not going to sound as good as ones that are solid in the middle and fill up your ears. It's really weird to compare it to the Galaxy Buds that have active noise cancellation. This is the opposite use case of noise cancellation.

From Airpod Pros to Sinnheiser Momentum 3's, Different phones sound different with each pair. Kind of like my Macbook Pro M1. Fantastic laptop but two things suck on it. For example Excel.. Not the same as Excel on Windows but Apple has always been bad with Copy/Paste. Again I love the Macbook but anyone who uses office for more than the basics better have a Windows laptop. Windows has its faults and my main desktop is Arch aslo has faults. Never amazes me we really don't get honest reviews.

@@techinrl9869 I just did the top five on the search and all of them were very positive. But one thing to remember is these are "open" back. So anyone is comparing apples to oranges. I did order a set of the Sony's just to see for myself. I understand everyone has an opinion and that's all it really is. Heck the reason I purchased my Macbook Pro and my Airpods Pro were because of Max Tech. I know this is an Apple fanboy site so it is anything but unbiased. I have never once seen anyone sit and compare MS Office to Apples Office Products. How about Apple Server that they still sell.
@techinrl9869
@techinrl9869 2 жыл бұрын
@@robmack4010 Apple Server? Its functionality has been deprecated for at least four or five years. Not sure why that’s relevant since it’s mostly a dead product that only sees bug fixes. I used to use it for email and calendaring, but stopped once they started removing features. The app continues to support server features if you had them before being deprecated. I suspect anyone who reviewed it would get almost no views on KZfaq, since it’s basically a waste of time. As for MS Office, I don’t use it because of the subscription fee, but is it any surprise that Microsoft makes the Windows version better than the Mac version? It’s a bit unfair to criticize MaxTech for not covering Office, since this channel doesn’t cover apps, not even Final Cut Pro, which they rave about all the time but don’t ever review. If you want to criticize them at all, it would be for an over-reliance on benchmarks and photo/video editing times when reviewing hardware. Most of the Apple review channels are hardware/OS centric. I’m sure there are Office reviewers out there. They just are fairly specific channels. I’ve never once seen a review of Apple Pages, Keynote, or Numbers, not that I’d care even though that’s what I use. I had considered buying one of these Sonys because I have about a dozen and like to try new ones, but the most positive review had the sound as pretty good but lacking bass, which is hardly a resounding endorsement. Hearing it had no wireless charging, that made it a big no. The biggest positives in all the reviews I saw were basically the tap controls and the coolness of the hole. The microphone was seen as better than AirPods Pro but worse than AirPods 3. Even the positive reviews didn’t rave about the sound.

Hi Max Tech, short answer: no, you are wrong about these, and here is why: I think you went about this review in a way that misses the point of functional utility of Linkbuds. These aren't meant for those who use their earbuds to listen to heigh fidelity music. You asked a question in your video: "I wonder who are these meant for?" Here are just a few that come to my mind: - Listening to TV without disturbing others, yet being aware of your surrounding. - Driving and listening to music - Listening to audio books or a lecture and still being aware of what's happening around you. - Having a zoom meeting and still being able to hear what your spouse, kid, friend, needs to tell you about. - walk in Manhattan, listen to your favorit podcast and not be hit by an approaching car. These are just a few that come to my mind now. I have been using them and I think they are brilliant. If I want to listen to Hi-Fi music, I'll go with my Sennheiser's HD 800s headphone. So let's not kid ourselves here. - A point about comfort: these headphones are so light that you can sometimes forget you are wearing them. You also don't get that feeling of your ears being plugged which is a big plus for me. - They work crazy well with Sony's 360 surround music.

To be honest, I trusted Linus' review than Max's. Linus has listened to far more audio devices not to mentioned you can see all of his reviews in his multiple channels. he is an analytical listener if not a true audiophile as he mentioned to one of his video that he spent $10,000 for his personal headset and equipment. No offense. I love you guys but you gotta gauge yourself on what the open-back design is for. Don't treat it like an Airpods or any other earbuds with a high base response, clear mids and bright highs because it will not have that same sound signature as the close earbuds have lol. I both owned and open-back and a close back headphones and they both sounded different. Open-back has more "real-world" feel to it kinda like hearing the artist live in front you. When Max say and commented as he listened I totally get what he means but the sad part is he compares it to something that is not on its category. THIS EARBUDS is the first on its own. If Max's said its bad then he's wrong because he's comparing it to a close-back earbuds. Listen to an open-back headphones first and you decide.

Bass is ok, the low frequency are there but does fall off below 150hz fairly fast. it definitely does not have the impact/air pressure or an in-ear dynamic driver but it also does not have the hiss or other sound artifact that you get from from electronic environmental sound pass-through on some IEMs. A better comparison will be against pod types. I like mine, while the sound quality is nowhere close to my XBA-Z5 IEM, I would put them us against my older XBA-3. It's also a lot more comfortable to wear for extended period, especially in warm weather and it perfectly fine for casual listening or watching media. Also these are meant for use in-door/quiet outdoor environment and they get pretty loud, I have listened to a bunch of music ranging from Santana to Eagles to Jpop vocals and Jazz without having to go pass 40% on most of them. If they are not loud enough for you, you either did not have them positioned correctly or you're probably suffering from hearing loss and need your hearing checked.

I am wondering: Are there any other earphones that work something like the gen3 earpods and dont seal you off that far than the real in ears? Perhaps something that sounds better than those. I heard good things about galaxy buds pro 2 but they seem seal very well? I have Shure monitor in ears and while I like the sound I dont like being sealed off that much...I wanna hear my surroundings...possibly non muffled too badly. I thing that is why people come back to earpod 3s?

Just wanna say I'm more than a few responses you link to sound guys and imply they didn't like them. They actually said they sound good indoors and for people who want to have a more open experience they would be a good fit. They compliment the sound but do imply these aren't for bass heads. They also compliment comfort. You are apparently not the consumer for these. I'm more disappointed that these don't have both left and right being able to be used on their own going by the review.

Hey, thanks for the review. I recently picked these headphones up just today. I agree that these are not super loud but that is due to the nature of the open air design. I personally had to go into the EQ settings and fiddle with the EQ settings to get them sounding better. I suppose it all comes down to the fit. I own a pair of the Samsung Galaxy buds live in earbuds and I have to make sure that I’m positioning them correctly otherwise the actual speaker will be muffled if it is not directly over my ear canal. I have also heard that with any headphones it takes a little bit to break them in as the diaphragm of the speaker needs to be broken in and stretched. To be honest, credit where credit is due. This is too my knowledge Sony’s first attempt at open air designed headphones. I am sure that in Sony’s next model of these it will improve.

I am wearing these on long runs and bike rides so I can have true wireless earbuds that don’t fall out and the ability to hear traffic. Perfect use case. If music and isolation are the goal, lots of other choices. I own airpod pros - they fall out of my ears when running. I own xm4s - I hear pounding inside my head when I run with them the seal is so good (and I almost got hit by a car, even with ambient noise turned on). I agree that many earbuds sound better, but for outdoor exercise, phone calls, or listening to music or podcasts while still being able to hear the doorbell, your kids, or to speak to someone in front of you seamlessly, they are good. Should be cheaper, though. :)

Honestly after watching a ton of different reviews on these headphones I have come to the conclusion that for what there is a bit of a common problem with most of these reviews , everyone seems to be comparing and grading these headphones against in ear buds but that’s not what these are I would say they are more closely related to bone conduction headphones where the audio is the passive element. Comparing these to in ear headphones is like comparing a wrangler to Honda Odyssey yea they are both motor vehicles and they both hold people but they both do so for different purposes. I feel like the audio for being open back ear buds are solid and they exist to serve a certain market , if you want to get lost in your music then you shouldn’t be looking at these headphones anyways cause that’s not their target market but if you want to maintain a awareness of your surroundings while you enjoy some music or a podcast or a call then you are the market that these headphones are made for .

Recently bought these and I absolutely love them. Sound quality is good. It's not the best I've ever heard, but it is high quality sound. Far better than what he is saying. I've gotta think he doesn't have them fitted correctly. Anyway if I want to hear music at an audiophile level, I don't use earbuds. I use earbuds while I go about my life. With these you can hear if someone at work speaks to you, if a car is coming your way, while a person is checking you out at the grocery store, etc. etc. It's like the world has a soundtrack, but without being deaf to everything around you. I've tried high end earbuds with pass-thru. That distracting tin sound isn't even close. With these the world still exists, but it has music. They are comfortable and light enough when I'm not playing audio I forget they are in. Not being in your ear canal makes all the difference. So far they haven't fallen out either. Even with pretty strenuous exercise. Yesterday I was digging postholes in my yard for a new fence, and they didn't budge. The battery life is shorter than I'd like. If they are constantly playing, 5 hours and then another 1.5 hours from a 10 minute charge. The case can charge them multiple times. It'll get most people through their work day. Not that big a deal to me. A bit on the pricey side, and the battery life could be better, but I think they are worth every single penny. If you're a podcast host you probably can't see the use for these. Anyone at a 9-5 won't want to live without them once they try them out though.

I have both, but there's not much point in comparing them. They are completely different things for different uses. But I can definitely say that Sony made amazing headphones, and here's why: 1. they are the first headphones of their kind that strike a great balance between listening to music and listening to the environment (which again can be extinguished, but not quite, by the volume) 2. they are many times more comfortable than other headphones and lighter 3. In terms of sound quality, I would say it is at the level of good headphones, especially after the last update, everything has improved there

Ok follow up from my comment yesterday… I have just finished setting them up, and are currently listening as I type through my “tidal” subscription, which includes 360 and master tracks. I have also updated the firmware of the link buds. And again don’t want to have a go at your review here. But seriously you are clearly not using the link buds correctly and as I suspect, on nearly every level. Few of my points. I have actually had to turn the volume of my music playback down, as it drowns out all outside noise., The sound quality is way, way better than I was expecting as a few reviews had mentioned how low and poor they are. Well I’m sorry there not, I have bass boost on the app, and medium Tracy’s clip. I urge anyone to spend the extra few minutes with these to make sure you have not only the right fitting but they are actually in your ear correctly. Use the QR code on the box, there’s a cute little animations that actually showed me I was slight off. And again it’s the biggest point. So honestly, after just an hour you have to go back man to check your either doing it completely wrong or you have a faulty pair. I would say these are extremely good, way better than I thought they were going to be. Again apologise for hijacking your post, but I’m passionate about headphones, especially when wrong info is given out.

Im not saying they sound amazing or anything (Allthough it can be way better than out of the box with some EQ) but I dont know why so many people complain about the max volume. Maybe there was an update or something to them, but for me the max volume is well past uncomfortably loud. I think overall they sound decent (Not incredible) with a little adjustment in the app. Overall Id say they are pretty solid and work as advertised. But the price is a little too high. Maybe its just me and my phone or something, but my biggest problem with them is the bluetooth connection seems flimsy at best sometimes. I bough them to use for work (Where I need to be able to hear stuff in the background) and and I mostly play low bitrate videogame sound track, podcast/audiobooks or other spoken words audio tracks. For that purpose they have served me well. When I do play regular music on them they sound acceptable. If im looking for better quality id use full sized over ear headphones. You cant beat a good pair of full sized set of head phone, but I never expected these to sound that good and I think they sound okay considering.
