In this video, I show you how to use #LinkedIn to connect like a pro! You’ll see sample LinkedIn connection requests that have impressed even me, and you’ll be able to craft your own request message template.
84% of people find jobs using a “weak” relationship, and in the 21st century, LinkedIn is arguably the most powerful platform to effectively connect with these “weak” connections.
Through the three tips I mention, you will learn to connect with someone on LinkedIn without knowing the person either for a job, or just to expand your professional network! I’ll teach you how to adhere to LinkedIn connection request etiquette (super important!) and you might even be able to connect on LinkedIn without viewing the profile first!
People are often faced with the challenge of connecting with others on LinkedIn without really knowing them beforehand or without a proper introduction; but you will soon see you are able to message someone on LinkedIn who is not a connection (for free) and write custom, thoughtful messages that get an engaged response.

Hey Jeff, Great Video! I came across your channel after watching your first video on ali abdaal's skillshare class. I am impressed by your editing skills, your videos really look professional! My question is how you zoomed/highlighted that top part of the study you show at 0:40. I can't find any tutorials online, maybe because I can't really articulate what I am looking for specifically. Maybe you can help me out! Thanks in advance!
@JeffSu
@JeffSu 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jan! So happy to meet another student of Ali's :). Sure of course - So there are two ways you can go about trying to achieve that effect: (1) Keyframing the clip and increasing the size of the area. There should be some tutorials if you search "keyframe enlarge clip final cut pro" or something along those lines. (2) The easier route is for you to just simply buy a plugin online (probably in videohive) that will achieve the same effect. Good luck!

Awesome video as always! I think the toughest part about the connection message (1. relatable, 2. compliment, 3. add value) is the adding value part. How do I add value to someone who doesn't really have any projects or papers that I can view? I can compliment them on the other hand, about their company.

Hi Jeff, thanks for the info. So far I've found your tips invaluable. One question: as of writing this comment, LinkedIn has shortened the max number of characters you can have in a personalized connection note to 300 characters, which makes sending a personalized and thoughtful connection message more challenging. Is there a clever way to circumvent this speed bump?

I used to be a trainer for a #1 Electronic Medical Record in the Country. I'm no longer in this business, however, I still receive connection requests and firms who want me to interview for a training position. How do I STOP receiving these? Do I delete them from my CONNECTIONS? Currently, I'm a Certified Career Coach, so I'm going to check out your tips in this video. Thx!

Thanks Jeff, saw your video on IBM community web page. Trying to get into cyber security but everyone wants someone with experience, security clearance and certification. Hi Jeff, great advice once again! I just wanted to ask, do you have any tips for connecting with recruiters who are complete strangers? It's tough to relate or add value since I'm still a student and not in the field of recruiting, and I'm worried that just saying "I'm impressed by your dedication to finding top talent for [company/program]" or something along those lines as a compliment may sound a little fake. What do you recommend I do in this situation? Thanks!

Any tips to improve this opener? Thanks again!

My question is even if they are alumni, what would their motivation be to help you ? I'm sure they have several people contacting them all the time. How to convince someone to want to help you. Talking about psychology, even amongst "friends", my experience is most friends don't want to help you, because they dont want to see you getting ahead of them. So, why would a "weak" link want to help you ?

Happy Autumn and Harvest Moon! Did you eat mooncakes? btw I have begun reapplying to JET. Someone with close ties to the consulate told me that I may have been declined an offer because the committee had the foresight to know that there would be delays and possibly even cancellation of contracts due to the ongoing pandemic, and they did not want to jeopardize my current secure employment. It was probably just kindness of that person to say that, but anyway I'm going to try again and working on my essay now Have a great week
