Does anyone know what filesystem he was referring to when he said they added a new filesystem to the kernel in latest release? I tried looking at the kernel changelog online but I can't seem to find the answer for some reason.

What do you mean by making it faster ? Linux kernel is an operating system, different optimizations are done all the time
