Omar al-Mukhtar had only one child: Muhammad Omar al-Mukhtar. All of Muhammad Omar al-Mukhtar's children died at a young age though, so Omar al-Mukhtar has no living grandchildren according to Wikipedia. Is Wikipedia wrong? Or are you not his descendant?

@@patrickrhea6348I’m a Palestinian, and I fully say that Palestinians should not, and don’t want to go to other countries. Our homeland is Gaza, and them leaving is what Israel wants. If we go to another country, for the rest of our lives we will be denied our right to return because this is what happened to the Palestinians that fled to the other Arab countries in 1948. We refuse to be ethnically cleansed like we were during the Nakba once again, so we will stay in our homeland even if the price is death. The Arab countries shouldn’t be encouraging Palestinians to leave their homeland and to integrate into new societies and communities when they were born Palestinian and their home is Palestine. We were born Palestinian, and we will die Palestinian. If anything, you should be asking why doesn’t Israel take the Gaza refugees?

This is the first time I've seen an edit of this movie on youtube. I fucking LOVE this movie. It's brilliant, a Lawrence of Arabia quality epic, Moustapha Akkad is one of my favourite directors even if for just two major movies, he died too soon. This movie singlehandedly sparked my interest in Libyan history, just a few years ago, and since then I've done research papers about the region in my bachelor's, and now in my masters I just wrote a research paper about the relationship between the Young Turks and the Libyan Resistance movement. This region, this period, woefully ignored in broader pop-culture, but it absolutely is well-studied, by some wonderful brilliant historians, Italians and Libyans among them. I have to mention the the historian Ali Abdullatif Ahmida (Genocide in Libya - Shar, a Hidden Colonial History (2020)), Forgotten Voices - Power and Agency in Colonial and Postcolonial Libya (2005)), as well as this phenomenal book I've just been reading by Angelo del Boca about Mohamed Fekini. But there's so many scholars that have done so much to put the stories and experiences and trauma of these people into written form, and to be immortalised, and never forgotten. One of the most egregious genocides and yet in Italy Mussolini is treated like some benign dictator, becuz he wasn't as bad as Hitler and therefore he's quite okay, even Graziani is still celebrated in the village he was born. The colonisation began before Fascism, but Mussolini's rule, and Graziani's leadership was one of the worse periods for sure, and this movie captures that history shockingly accurate. Considering the reputation of historical epics as romanticised to the nth degree, this movie is very respectful and very accurate to a lot of the chronology of the conflict and of specifically Omar Mukthar's resistance fight. And the movie is not just accurate but beautifully shot, exciting, harrowing, tense/suspenseful, insightful, philosophical, it is emotional, it has great writing and great characters, and of course some of the best performers in history; Anthony Quinn, Laurence Olivier, Irene Papas. What more can you ask? How the fuck is this film not as well-known as one of the best historical epics, or at least historical films. Moustapha Akkad talked of bridging the East and the West and this film, and The Message, did exactly that, what a task he set upon himself to capture a subject so atrocious with reverence. Gaddafi went against much of what Omar Mukthar fought for, but he damn sure knew how to produce good movies. What state Libya is in now, it is unbelievable, and many think it doomed, but Libya was exactly in this warring regional chaos back in the 1910s-1920s, and it can rise back from the ashes.

Excellent Excellent Excellent, history repeats itself in Phalasteen! Rewatch and remember this with the context of Palestine and Gaza and the occupiers on their land and the accusations and tactics of colonizers and traitors and the courage of resistance in all times. We celebrate them and make movies 100 years later, but many don't "see" when it is happening in front of their eyes in their lifetimes.

@@Hit924 bro I'm from north Africa too . That means me and are brothers . So as I studied history by that I found out that minifa are arabized Berber tribe . That means their origin are Berbers. You may found that they speak a mixed Arabic and tamazikgt delicit but that doesn't mean they are Arab. The Latinos speak Spanish and Portuguese. But that doesn't mean they are Spanish or Portuguese

The schoolar and founder one of palestine resistance Sheikh Ahmad Yassin repeated the history after same as the Sheikh Omar Mokhtar among the generation. You are right my brother, but one question lingers , why Sheikh Yaseen got support from Iran. I’ve come to know that in Gaza they converted few into Shia sect and there were visuals of Gazan people came out in open and protested against Hamas , roughly in 2018.
