Lion Pride Feast On A Warthog | Maasai Mara Safari | Zebra Plains

The Enkoyonai lion pride feast on a warthog. Two of the Enkoyonai lionesses were found with a freshly caught warthog that was still breathing. A third Enkoyonai lioness arrived and chased the first two lionesses away before properly suffocating the warthog. The sub-adult lions of the Enkoyonai pride then joined to feast on the warthog but the original two lionesses of the pride did not return, probably realising the younger pride members needed the mal more than them. Most of this sighting was livestreamed here on KZfaq at the time and this is the high quality footage captured at the same time as the livestream on the other cameras.

The-warthogs are extremely resilient, as it takes them a considerable amount of time to perish. I have observed warthogs that have been partially consumed but still remain alive.

The poor Enkoyonai Lionesses💞, they had their prey stolen by the dominant Lioness, but it was for a good reason, so that the younger ones could eat…I hope the poor injured Lioness is doing better today and that she is recovered. At least they all ate. Beautiful sub adults Lions💞 Thank you for the video Rob🙂

Hey Rob! I really like your astute commentary throughout...very educational, so thank you. I do have a question about something you stated, though. You said that animals can catch Anthrax from eating other carrion that obviously have the bacteria in them. I'm just curious if you know which animals carry or are infected with Anthrax. I've just never heard too much of Anthrax (barring humans trying to infect humans with it through mailing it in a powder form) regarding animals on the African savanna. Anything you can provide would be very appreciative.

I am just so happy not to hear the poor guy squealing, murderously. I think 🤔 after that level of carnage, his/her adrenaline has flooded his system, shock has set in and natural painkillers have taken over. God bless him/her. A horrific way to go, nonetheless.

The lion who took over and killed the warthog properly ~ god bless her for her decency. She went back at the warthog’s neck a second time just before the kids came. The killing was more for her kids than the warthog, perhaps.

I thought I was crazy seeing that warthog moving. a while back we had a guy drive in to a group on the sidewalk at 90mph, torso was almost in 2, and u.could see what resembled a plastic bag getting filled w wind, instead it was the lungs inflating even w out the head and one arm gone. I really dont understand what makes bodies keep functioning in these scenarios

Anyone know the sit? Why did the 3erd female come in and take over the kill? I know one of the first on the kill so happened to turn up lame. Was the 3erd from a different pride?

There an explanation in the description, but basically the third lioness was looking after the youngsters and didn't want the other lionesses to feed with them even though they made the kill

Not in Kenya, it is not legal. You may find imported, farmed, ostrich or crocodile on some menus but nothing else

She was looking after all the cubs in the pride so she knew there was not enough to go round, the other lionesses can catch again whereas the youngsters ate not adept at hunting yet
