Plus, that lion gets daily healthy meals, water, and regular veterinary care. Let me put it this way: If you were magically turned into a lion today, would you really prefer to be in the wild, over a zoo? Terrible for the lion to be alone. Lions are social animals.

I found pictures of the enclosure of the lions, and it seem pretty decent on contrary of mini zoo I saw in the past. Plus we don't see ribs pocking, it's a sign that he's fed regulary. Some wildlife documentary shows way more skinny lions.

They do that all the time to my cat. No fear. They'll walk right in front of her like it's nothing then casually go up a tree of she gets too close.

We had a Doberman that would chase squirrels. He'd go into "slow mo" and almost walk within 2' before the squirrel would climb up the tree. It'd take in an hour or so to go 5'. I wish I would have flimed it. Capone was one of my best dogs! He caught a couple of ground hogs doing the same thing!

Most of the people here have absolutely no clue about zoos. Zoos have animals that have been born and raised in captivity. They can't survive in the wild. Zoos also often times take in animals that have been hurt or held by humans in horrible conditions to rehabilitate. Most of them can't be returned into the wild because they haven't been thought how to survive, they've spent all their lives in human possession. To give them as full life as they can get ,they get a chance for having their own families inside zoo who again can't be released because they haven't been thought how to survive in nature. Now there are some species that can be reintroduced back into the wild but lions are definitely not one of them. Speaking of reintroduction, zoos reintroduce a lot of species back into the wild, also helping with conservation of endangered ones. A lot of caretakers love animals , that's how they get this profession in the first place. They try to stimulate their lives as much as possible and as much resources allow. They are fully taken care by medical staff and fully fed with no worries about diseases, food shortages or getting hurt by predators/ defensive pret/ own kind mating, territory. Zoos also peak children's interest of animals and love for them. I went to zoos all my childhood and it only increased my interest in them. You have completely skewed, delusional and ignorant view of what nature is really like. If i stripped you naked and threw you right now in the middle of Forrest, nowhere near any civilization, without any preparation ,you would realize what it's like for an animal, who hasn't been raised in the wild it is like. And that would surely change your views of what real nature is like, not your imaginative fairy tail. Release back into the wild is not in a lot of animals best interests.

How bored does a lion have to be to take notice of a squirrel? In the wild, rodents might as well be eye floaters to them.
