This video is about a Lionel train set I received in 1955. It's a 2328 Burlington GP7 with three silver passenger cars.

Thanks so much for the anticodotals. I lived in Everson and as early as I can remember, I dragged my mom down to the tracks to watch evening switching of the Pennsy and B&O. That was 1959-1961.

My father received the Burlington 2328 also in 1955 for Christmas. We still enjoy this locomotive every Christmas. This quality built locomotive is now on its 3rd family generation and being enjoyed and loved every bit as much as it was in 1955!

I was given this same set about 6 years ago which sparked my interest in old O27 gauge trains. The previous owner was moving out of the country. He had received the set when he was a boy and thought our two young sons should have it. I also added the Newark to the Elizabeth, Summit and Clifton passenger cars. That 2328 is one beautiful smooth running locomotive. The red and silver colors really make it a "under the Christmas tree train"! I am fortunate to be the current caretaker of this train and have really enjoyed it. Your layout looks great- thanks for posting this!

Thanks! Unfortunately my brother passed over 15 years ago. My sisters and I are very close. My little sister's husband collects Lionel Trains, they are both doing well. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for clarifying the long nose and short nose running ideas of these. Up until recently, being corrected by another Burlington owner, I thought the correct way to run those GP-7 was to have the short nose forward. Hay that is how the ones with the lower hood run them for better visibility. But I was wrong about that idea.... I do wonder as well that the engineers of the steam when they went to drive the new diesel, thought, for the steam engine it has a long nose out front why not drive the diesel that way as well!

You and your family knew the value of that investment, and took excellent care of those trains. They look great, and with proper care, Lionel trains will run another 200 years.

Looking at the silhouettes in the Elizabeth, I would say it looks like a coach. I think the venetian blinds in the dome car is an exquisite touch....thanks for the video

I had the New Jersey set plus about 30 freight cars in 1955. I believe Lionel was manufactured in Irvington N.J.

Yes, back in the "prewar" period, Lionel trains were manufactured in Irvington. Thanks for watching!

My wife got one handed down to her Mothers passing. That she got when she was child . Considering selling it. But not because it’s part of My wife’s past . But I don’t like that it sits in a box with no one enjoying it . What should I do ?
@johnlazar75823 ай бұрын
If you are not ever going to use it again, selling it is probably the best option. That way someone will enjoy it. Another option is to display it in your home, like a conversation piece. I've known people who have done that. Or you could donate it to a train museum or club.
