And Madrid's midfield (Kroos, Modric and before them Di Maria, Xabi Alonso, Ozil) actually have the best per-90 stats in the CL, and obviously Benzema is one of the European greats and Bale always seemed to turn up when needed, whereas Suarez went off a cliff after 2016 and Neymar isn't a moments player the way Bale was. So I'm not sure they were less talented but Barcelona certainly wasted the prime of the greatest ever player when it came to the CL with their intransigent philosophy.
