Liqui Moly Engine Flush: Did It Work? BMW E30

Do you drive your BMW hard like I do? If you do then maintenance is vitally important. I maintain that using quality oil and changing it frequently will result in a better performing engine. In this video I was curious if Liqui Moly's Engine Flush would remove any unwanted engine grime and gunk.
I was surprised that the oil came out so dark given that the oil only had 2-3,000 miles on it. In the white cups, I found that the engine flush oil had substantial amounts of residue clinging to the cup. The fresh oil had to clinging, which I suspect is a condition of the flush. It appears that the flush was able to remove any unwanted metal shavings, gunk, and any other residue that is not important.
While this test is not scientific, the visual data suggests that an engine flush is important, especially on an older engine that is driven to redline everyday.
From Liqui Moly's website:
use with diesel particulate filters
simple to use
highly economical
does not attack common sealing materials
gentle cleaning

Not to be the negative type but Blackstone lab tests have shown multiple times color does not mean anything in regards to the condition of motor oil. If you pour new motor oil into a container, add appropriate amount of flush for amount of oil used, and heat it to roughly operating temp range it will turn the new motor oil dark. The heat, and flush causes a chemical reaction, which results in the motor oil turning dark.

The best way to kinda tell is the smell of the oil. If you know how fresh oil, slightly used and heavily burned oil smells you can kinda tell the condition from that already. Then you smear it with your fingers to sorta feel the viskosity and other "feel" to adjust your estimate a bit more accurate. But that's pretty much it. For anything more precise we would have to send oil samples to a laboratory for close inspection... but nobody does that :D for the price we all simply just buy a few cans of fresh liquid and change it.

I would advise using liqui moly ÖL-verlust, keeps seals nice and soft + saves them a bit if old, have had great luck with that aditive on both BMW's and subarus, both notorious for oil leaks and consumption, have also used it on my Civic and no leaks yet (2006, High mileage). Every 2 oil changes.

What springs/strut combo are you on? BTW did you have your stock headers powder coated or something? The one on my e30 looks rusty red. I like the way yours looks.

Hy, when you use engine flush you need to flush it again with cheap oil, let turn for 10min , drain and then put the good oil , There is always a little bit engine flush in the engine 😉

very clean garage, car, . thanks for uploading.. what is your mileage.? i have N52 later model 2008 528xi with 256,541 kms ... i bought mine used at 156,800 . I watched Doctor BMW Dean - something to this effect that this can do more damage than good. what is your take on it ? thanks

Thank you!!! My mileage is around 190k miles. Though the engine probably had half that. I think there is some truth to that, i.e. a high mileage engine may not be the best candidate because the flush can loosen deposits that can cause havoc. One doesn’t want to cause oil starvation, leaking seals, etc. I did this flush on my E46 M3 but it had 50k miles and the prior owner had long oil change intervals. Thanks for watching and thanks for chiming in! I appreciate it.

@@thedriversapex thanks, agree , however since my engine is still original and 13 year old... is it still safe to do the flush(only once) with 1/2 bottle. less aggressive approach. or not do it at all. just

Hey! Thanks for your patience. That's a good question. Someone recently commented that they used it on a high mileage engine and the engine is running better, now that they used this product. I hate to say yes or no. Is this a daily driver? I would feel horrible if something bad happened to our engine. I used it on my e30 with higher mileage and no issues as well as my lower mileage M3. Let's see if someone chimes in on this post. @mohammadhayatca3244 @@mohammadhayatca3244

Hello mate I’ve got a question, it might sound quite funny😁I just used this product in my car and I knew it should be at idle, but as soon as I poured it into the car a minute later of idling the garage asked me if I could reverse back up on the ramp I just reversed probably about a couple of meters if that, Do you think that could cause any slight wear and tear, just a couple of meters probably. less than 6 meter
@thedriversapex
@thedriversapex 8 ай бұрын
Nope 😊. The car will idle for 20 minutes as you know but moving it won’t matter. I believe I’ve heard that can drive a short distance with no issues. You’re all good!! Have an awesome day!! -Tom

@@thedriversapex oh thanks a lot mate I appreciate the response I just wondered if it will cause any damage with a slight reverse for a couple of meters, plus do you recommend an engine flush with each service? I mean will using the engine flush on each service be a problem Thanks a lot mate

Thanks for watching. Great question. I used Valvoline 20w-50. I’ve also used Brad Penn, but it’s so expensive. Probably the best and I’ll most likely use it on the stroker engine I’m going to build. Thanks again for watching!

@@craigbadder321 lol, autocorrect is so frustrating. I used brad Penn for the e30 and had good results, but stopped using it because it was so expensive. I think I was paying $13 or $16 a quart 😳. I really like Liqui Moly now and it’s stopped all oil consumption in the M3. Castrol was horrible.
