22.8 is an average mpg that has accrued over an undefined period of time and distance. 216.7 miles is probably not far enough to change the average reading. Try zeroing the average mpg reading and do the test again. You may or may not be surprised

MOS2 is a solid friction modifier that takes at least 300-500 miles to film over the engine internals. I have been using Ceratec (a Liqui Moly product as well) with every car I own for years. Apart from smoother running, smoother idle, lower running temperatures, and improved fuel economy. I am positive that it keeps engines running longer. In order to determine if something is working, you must first forget about your expectations and make sure you fully understand the product.

I used Liquimoly MOS2 on BMW M43 engine which already clocked 125000 miles during last oil change. The lifter noise and camshaft bearing noise is gone and engine became smooth as silk within 500 miles. Idles very well and revs up smoothly with 0 oil consumption. Excellent product. Only glitch is that it deposits on spark plugs a little and it requires cleaning around 3000 miles.

I can give you a product used by racing teams that build engines for the past Dale Earnheart. I have tested what Bob the racing pro uses called Marvel Maystery oil. What happens he said is that the 5 additives in Marvem Mystery Oil protect the rings and pisttons and it starts to create a dry lubricant in the cylinders. Horse power will slowly climb from a better compression ratio. and HP goes up 15 %. I put 4 ozs per 44 litres or 10 gallons and I put 16 0zs in the oil to clean,lubricate and make the oil last from heating. Carbon will be GONE in months. NOW......we also want more mpg to pay for EVERYTHING over the year. AMSOIL Sinature series 25,000 or 1 year. ow-20 is what I will use in my 2018 Tacoma. I will use the Toyota 1 year so pick a 1 year royal purple filter but avoid the Amsoil 1 year for now as I heard 1 complaint. Put amsoil in the transmission use severe and severe rear end. That 22 mph will become 30 mpg and maybe 32. Drive for 23 hours at 100 K or 60 mph to get testing results and summer will give better numbers faster

I swear by this stuff. I gained about 1.9 mpg on my chevy truck and gained about 50 revs per minute. Most products are snake oil though. Engine is alot quieter. Runs like new even though it has 300k on original engine. YMMV though. I do use it with Mobile 1 full synthetic high mileage so maybe the combo works better, I dont know.

I use the LM MoS2 for years, here in Europe, on older cars, and I mean very old.... I think it's a very good product ! Firstly, I poured it on a 12 years old 1985 BMW at idle (at that time I didn't know about crankcase ventilation!) and, in a matter of seconds, I swear it dampended the noise of the 1,8 litre engine. For that very reason, I continued to use MoS2 in almost all engines I had since. The engine ran smoothly I changed the oil at around 6000 miles (10000 km) with Liqui Moly. Yes, I noticed a fouling of the plugs bc anyway I had problems with the compression. Ad on a newer BMW (1,8 litre year 2005 with Valvetronic and Vanos), AFTER a period of time of about one week or 2oo km, it not only smoothed the engine noise and pickup, but, the instant consumption on the E46 "hidden menu" dropped from 0,7 to 0,9 litres per hour, to 0,5 to 0,7 . Thats a fact. And, again, I noticed some fouling of the plugs after a year. I knew I had worn valve guides and a consumption of oil (1/2 a quarter per 600 mile). And also, I regullarly cleaned the surface of the sensors in the engine. Since then, I used MoS2 on a 1998 V6 Mercedes and a Volkswagen 1.0 litre Polo, with the same good results: smoother idle, better pickup in revs.

I used it in my 2013 Passat 2.5 with 38,000 miles and it seems to have made it run smoother also. It ran pretty good before and now it is even better. Now all I need is to change the transmission fluid at the right times and hopefully that car will last a long time. By the right times I don't mean every 60,000 miles as VW suggests, by that time I can expect problems if I don't change the fluid They used to not recommend a fluid change in the earlier cars with the same transmission. Just to be clear, I did not use that additive in the transmission. If you use it in there you will most likely have a very nasty slipping problem in all gears so don't do it!! You can get away with this stuff in an engine but a transmission is very finicky about the fluid.

The MPG figure on your computer is based on your driving style. If you go for long drives on the motorway keeping your foot light on the throttle, it will increase. Same way if you do lots of short trips with plenty of stopping and starting, it will decrease. This stuff is designed to help engines with high mileage wear and tear in need of extra protection, especially in the cylinders. If your engine's in good nick already then you probably won't notice any difference with this. But if it's old, noisy and losing some compression, then this may help. I say 'MAY' help, depending on how far gone the engine is.

Read the label, you need ~5% Liqui Moly additive in your oil. A BMW 4.0L V8 takes 8 Liters of oil that means you need a bit more than 1 bottle. Actually, since you have 151K mi, I would flush the oil system right before you do a fresh oil and oil filter change (including another 1.2 bottles of LiquiMoly). THEN drive 500 miles or so, that way the moly has time to plate out on the engine parts (this takes some time). You WILL see a difference.

That's an M54 in there, not a V8 =P However, you are not wrong as it does take around 7 quarts. At the end of the day, people expect miracles from additives like this. It's overrated bogus. They improve performance like 1-2%. SEEING a differences is impractical. The chemicals are there but people just expect way too much. It's disappointing.

Agree with the others, not really how you test the stuff. But, I have used it for about 2 years every oil change after seeing all 4 camshafts on my X5 4.8i fail after 188,000 miles when I pulled the valve covers to do gaskets. They were totally rough, and etched, as were the roller rockers. There was also excessive noise. Interestingly, about 400 or so miles after adding liquimoly the nasty clicking and noises were about gone (if that is a worthy reason to say it works). I'm currently at 229,000 miles and about 6 oil changes later with additive, and still quiet and running good, didn't see any metallic in oil filter last few changes either? Coincidence? Warning though, the moly was really clogging up the filters, can see blobs of paste now, however I do 7500 mile intervals, beyond that I'd change my filters twice per oil change interval.

I bought some in Hamburg last month while on vacation. I have a very precise fuel consumption meter and can measure differences of 0.01L/100km and the improvement was around 0.04L/100km which is to be taken with a grain of salt as a lot of variables are in play such as fuel and air temperature and wind, but guesstimated average saving was in the ballpark of 40mL/100km. What also changed however was noise from the valvetrain. Both tappets and camshaft bearings became silent and I can no longer hear my engine idling in city traffic. MOS2 can also be put in the gearbox, that's next and maybe a small squirt in each wheel bearing.

0.04L/100Km. So around 1% saving on overall fuel consumption. Now 3 months later I have not topped my oil up, and my engine is still silent even now when the morning temperatures are 10-12C. So i'm still quite convinced in it preventing wear.

I've never used the product so I don't have any personal experience with it, but I have a lot of experience with test and design of experiments and found your testing to be uncontrolled. Weather, tire pressure, that amount of traffic, etc. all affect your fuel consumption. Also, I see you reset the trip odometer, but it doesn't look like you reset the average fuel consumption meter. As far as I know that's the average mpg the car got over 151,756 miles with only 217 of those miles with MOS2.
@essamallawi9605
@essamallawi9605 2 жыл бұрын
This is not a good test. This product is meant to reduce engine parts friction. The improved MPG is a RESULT of the reduced friction as the engine needs less effort to rev up which means less fuel. And it takes a few hundred miles of driving to see the result. The real test is does it actually reduce friction which you can tell by the noise of the engine.

I don't want to defend the product, but consider also these things: 1. your car is old and may not have accurate mpg calculation mechanisms. 2. you should reset your mpg and fill up tank before doing the test because the mpg computer will restart the process anew if you do that. 3. did you take note of other changes besides mpg? such as engine noise level changes, throttle response, idle smoothness etc.?? I would be interested to see a new test after a couple of oil changes without the additive, then add the stuff and do as above suggestions.

When i engine flush , carbon cleaning, injection cleaning, and start using octane 90, i am getting 350km - 400km before the gas light starts to blink. For sure drive 300+ miles. It has to work it’s way into those crevices on grinding metal... start running more efficiently for a sustained period of time...then your computer will adapt to this ...followed by you feeling the whip a bit smoother and decrease mpg. So this all takes time. Did you reset ur computer mpg? Might start noticing ur getting better mpg on reg travelled roads like you look down an notice you got 27 mpg during a medium take off. Sometimes I can tell my mpg had gone up on the computer reading but it’s tough to tell because I change my oil so often. If you have good maintenance then you may already be getting ur cars best mpg ..this shiz still helps tho 👌 I have Lmoly 4200 5-30 in mine. 😍

I'm not sure it's really all about mileage, more about increased longevity and engine protection. Although I have no idea if anyone has found a way to measure that.

Hi BIMMER ZEIT If you have a digital temp gauge. Or use a obd2 scanner. to read the teperture. Test the time the engine geth to the opertating temp.Or chick in what time it geth to any temperture you pick. and compare it.with the anti friction it should take more time. If not. Mean the product don't work they way it suppose too.

I use this product in my Harley Davidson sportster and I can definitely tell you it stops some of the mechanical noise from the engine (the engines on most Harleys do NOT share the same oil supply as the transmissions like Japanese and British motorcycles). I can also tell you that it brings down the engine temperature which is important to me because most Harleys are air cooled. However this product will not work immediately. It takes a while to bond to engine surfaces. I can tell you that this is a German product and the Germans are chemical wizards. However they do offer an updated product. This product (which I still use) dates all the way back to World War II. You did not give this product a fair chance. Also when you are checking mileage everything must be the same IE weather temperature and tire pressure etc.

It’s recommended to do the liqui moly engine flush with old oil in car then allow the engine to idle for 10 minutes after that you can replace oil then add the mo2 additive I see you added to old oil it’s won’t be that effective that way

will it depend on how you drive. and road traffic. you could have been stopped with engine running for more time during the 200 miles. I would think better to do it over a number of fills fill the tank use some refill tank then work out mpg. it does not say that the car fuel mpg readings are correct.
@sbahidh
@sbahidh 4 жыл бұрын
You have to reset the average mpg before u do the test.
@loveshy007
@loveshy007 4 жыл бұрын
RESET MPG. Then drive an exact stretch of road where you don't have to stop for 5 miles. Set cruise control to the speed limit and drive the 5 miles then record the MPG's. Then drive back to start point, add treatment and drive exact stretch of 5 miles with cruise control set to speed limit. Then compare MPG's - Any other way of testing it will invalidate the results. If you can find a stretch where you can drive a longer distance without stopping or accelerating, better yet. Just make sure to use cruise control as the car will apply fuel using the computer which is more accurate than the driver maintaining the speed limit manually. Good luck.

Do you eat soy products to go with the jeans, good effort though, engine temp dropped by 20% on my cf moto 830le atv, bloody incredible really, less heat due to less friction, less friction means more power less wear and tear and quieter engine, I poured half bottle initially then added other half after 500 miles, second half of bottle made an even bigger difference, incredible to lose 20% heat in engine, simply incredible
