Thanks for taking the time to make this I wish you’d made it a year ago and here’s why.😊I’ve only been paddling a bit less than a year and picked up a secondhand Remix 79 for my first boat. I didn’t realise how little primary stability it had until I sat in a boat with more defined edges. I have to say I struggled a little in the LL and now I’m in a more stable boat I’m in a better place and my confidence has really improved. I’ll probably keep the Remix until I’m a better paddler and come back to it in the future if that makes sense.

David, I'm in the EXACT same position. Got a Remix in June, immediately felt off. Paddled it more and got used to it, but it still just feels like I'm paddling a telephone pole, just so narrow and tippy. Multiple times I've OVER-rolled back over the other side because it just keeps on going. Just picked up an old Dagger GT 8.1 for real cheap, that thing has more edge and a huge flat hull. Interested to see how it goes. Can I ask what you switched to and how rolling felt relative to the Remix? I think I'd love the Remix for big, non-technical water, like the New River. For creeks, it's not my favorite.

As a relatively new kayaker I like the remix. It’s pretty good for learning to roll. Not much bad to say since a lot of the tech in the boat has since been refined into newer stuff

I really like that you go back and review some of the older boats from time to time. When's the next Shuttle Drive coming out? Maybe you'd enjoy doing an episode where you rank full slice boats like you did with the half slices.

At 140lbs I’ve had a 59 and 69. Had a lot of different boats over the years but every time I get back in a remix 69 it just feels right. I think it’s the smoothness, it’s just easy to paddle and always boosts my confidence. Being on the light side of the weight range for the 69 seems to work really well for me. Also had a couple Braaaps over the years, it’s between the original braaap and remix 69 for my favorite river running/class 3/4 creeker. Also maybe it’s because of my weight but I never have a problem boofing the remix, I paddle it a little in the back seat and it boofs on edge beautifuly for me.

I wanted to start out on a Remix but an RPM came along for $250. I upgraded to a Party Braaap for everything that I loved about the RPM but with rocker. Hopped in a friend's Remix 69 at a small whitewater park that year and felt 'invincible' but it wasn't... fun.

I've had 2 (sliced open the 1st one on a granite boulder boof and LL sent me another hull for 2/3 price. Waay more volume than 69 gallons ...set it next to a Wavesport Diesel 75 & 80 or large Burn (river runners from the same era) and it's considerably bigger. I'm 185# and did many self-support trips in it from Rogue River overnighters to Illinois river trips to Deer Creek Ca. Multi-day. Very dependable, fast and forgiving river-running design. I'm even thinking of getting a 79 for some Idaho multi-day runs this late spring/ early summer.

"It's a dad boat." Let's hope so. Picked a new one up in fletcher last month. Stopped boating for 12+ years when we had kids. Youngest,13, started boating last summer so she got me back out in my old H3. Learned to roll in a new prozone back then and enjoyed my inazone and H3 on runs like north fork fb, Wilson's etc. Now at 56, hoping a LL Remix 69 will be gentle on these less flexible hips and shoulders as I change from my violent c2c to a sweep. I did get some kudos last summer for my old colorful Grateful Heads helmet running my daughter on the nanty. So, I hope you are on with the "dad boat." And wow....we didn't have wade Harrison on KZfaq back then...heck didn't have KZfaq 😀 Thanks Wade.

Hey, Wade. I've been in a 59 now for about a decade. I love it, as it's really all I know. I see your poinnts though on edging and rocker - seems the RMX addressed those issues without overstepping too much. I'm ready for the change over. Do you think it'll be a big difference?

I really appreciate your reviews so thought I would ask what kayak you would prefer on the GC if you are a 3+ boater...Posting it here because we thought the remix is better than our creekers for this trip and while we love the remix 69 we are (1) having a hard time ordering a second one *supply and shipping issues happening at LL currently it seems* (2) looking to see if there is a boat like the remix out there that handles boils and big water as well as the remix but with a slightly bigger bow so we can also use on our creeking runs locally. Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for doing the remix review. Not many out there, I have had a remix for 6 months ..class 3 Max so far.. my thoughts.. super easy to roll. Good secondary stability. If you keep the nose pointed down river it will go through most stuff. ( I find it does like to get sideways). I agree lots of water in the face. Been a good boat. Not the best surfer needs a bigger wave most of the time. The bad is I find it is not the best at aggressive ferries, tends to want to turn down river in the current, and hard to stop that once it starts. No edges are good for learning but could use just a little bit to help ferries in faster water. Question: where to next? Do you benefit from staying in the liquid logic family and get a braaap? Would that be a good next boat if you learned on a remix? Goal is boofing aggressive ferries ,small eddies. And canyon running. What is the next boat for remix learners? Thanks for the review and enjoy your video!
