It the Superboost WiFi booster a scam? That is how the email started and that got me curious - so I investigated it and things got super weird!
What started out as a WiFi booster review, landed up taking various twists and turns that were unexpected!

For years, I’ve followed “iPad Pete” and enjoyed his tutorials. I purchased one of these devices thru his website. The experience has been horrible. The product arrived without normal packaging, and with confusing instructions. Problems with set-up. No response from iPad Pete. Automated response from the “Booster” company itself. Called their 800 number but they wouldn’t help me because they said I did not have an account with them. Thanks for your video. It confirmed that I’ve been TAKEN for a $50 ride!

I was just curious about these because of seeing the ads so often that it has become annoying, and yes who doesn't want to boost their WiFi speed. My curiosity has been 100% dispelled now by your thorough and super-efficient analysis that I learned so much from right from the start such as right-clicking to check for stock photos. Needless to say I have subscribed and will be back for more.

I've poor internet connection in one room so I need that boosted I was tempted to buy this. However I'd just checked out a monoscooe and discovered it was almost useless . I thought this WiFi thing can't be a con too but thought why not check. You did a fantastic reveiw really honest and yup this thing is pants You taught so many other things in the journey if your reveiw. Thank you

I used it for about a year. It worked fine, and was a real benefit to me in terms of speed. The native router was quite far, and its signal weak, so i was getting a lot of drop-outs. The repeater fixed that perfectly.

Glad I found you, was very wary of them, no customer service anywhere. Product never arrived and I just got off phone with the bank placing fraudulent charges against them. I have the bank now investigating them BUT I get my money put back immediately while they run their investigation. Ty for confirmation!

I just received mine in the mail today and was having trouble setting it up. Got all the way to where I needed to type in the password again for the final connect. I typed in the exact same one but it said it was wrong and could not connect. My computer shows that the repeater has a good signal. But I could never connect. So I come online to see if others are having issues, and here we are. At least you connected to test it. I appreciate the video.

Great stuff!! My employer is requiring that I have a minimum 40 mpbs in my home to work from home. I currently can only get 10 mpbs in my zip code. Is there a product out there that will help me boost my mpbs that much? I would hate to lose this job. Thanks, and keep up the good work. Glen

@@glendye1535 First find out what your isp is giving you. If you rent your modem Find out if your modem is an old model or if they are offering a new modem. See if they can crank it up. if they are already giving you 100 mbps or better see if you are connected to the 5ghz band on your router. This band supports multiple connections and is faster than the2.4 band. You may want to run speed tests with your laptop plugged into the ethernet connection if you have one on your desktop.

new subscriber here ! loved the way you moved through this video... direct and to the point covering exactly what was necessary. I just purchased Novitec WI Fi 4 Repeater that was supposed to boost my signal to 300 Mbps. I had the same experience as you described here. Are you aware of any of these devices that actually give you the WiFi boost ? I am in a rural area and rely on Hughesnet satellite for my internet service. I just can't find way to get a strong enough signal to be able to stream KZfaq or any channels that require streaming... also to have a better internet experience for working from home ! Thank you

If you can get your router installed in the middle of your property on the 1st floor of your house, you’ll notice better coverage. Imagine a bubble that surrounds your house and you’ll get the idea. Most common mistake is to shove it in the corner on a ground floor.

I live in Thailand, I have two of these Wifi extenders. One to extend wifi to my garage and I have one in the back bedroom both increased the wifi reception. Cost for one delivered 204 baht about $7 us.

The best way to extend Wi-Fi in my opinion is through a second router that's lying around if you were to use a Wi-Fi Extender the best option is to buy from your provider.

Thanks for this review ! Got the new version (8 LED indicators) for $15 locally ... works fine so far for intended stuff as a repeater. Speeds and range similar to ISP provider Router around 20Mbps up down. But when I connect the devise using LAN cable to repeater, can get up to 50Mbps (Service provider cap 100Mbps and gets it if device connect to Router using LAN cable). Yes, it does drop the signal occasionally as you shown with ping test (about a packet once a minute). For the purpose of extending range for smart devices that need to connect cloud and to share WIFI with visitors ,🙂its just great for the price. Took less than 5 sec to configure using WPS and boots up instantly. May be not for high tech networking stuff. How long it will survive ... has to wait and see.

Thank you. Bought this, did the setup numerous times, thought I'd cracked it, tried to access the repeater network, it asked for a password, entered my home router password, wouldn't accept it. This has cost me so much time and£15 . Just logged in to Amazon where I purchased it, in order to return the product. Am now waiting for the seller to approve my refund, then I will post it back and wait for the refund. Hope the refund process isn't as awful as the product. Great review, don't know if you watch UK TV series Peepshow but you have a resemblance to Mark. If you don't, give it a watch it's hilarious and will help you wind down from a hard day's analysis and product reviewing.

This kind of thing always surprises me! In the UK we have a whole host of laws that protect the consumer. If you sell a product that violates, for example, the Trade Description Act, why aren't these vendors being prosecuted?

I bought one a few months ago -- it is white, as packaged. When I ordered it, they said it would take up to a month to arrive. It did. The customer service when I called to inquire about it (about 3 or 4 days before the month, when I'd heard nothing) was not great, but they did respond to me via phone. I am using this as a booster for a Verizon MiFi hotspot where I have no reliable high-speed internet. I didn't experience the same problems you did. It is a minor improvement over no tool. Some of the set-up was a little different. It attaches to the WiFi/router name and adds "_Ext" to the end so you have the option of choosing the original or the "boosted" version. It's not great, but a minor improvement, so I feel disappointed but not completely ripped off.

Thankyou for the video. I bought one of these things under the name of "turbowifi" with the exact advert you were describing. These are basically just repeaters nothing too special. If I would had known that earlier I could have got one for around a tenner instead of around 60 quid. Oh well they got me that time.

Great info but a bit late for me. I did this in 2016 and it was shit back then as well. I'm running Google mesh and it is working great. It was a freebie from my Telco otherwise I would have found it to expensive. There are other mesh alternatives. Thanks for the great vid leron. Very informative and I like the red flags and the stock photo tip. I didn't know about that👍👍

A friend of mine got involved with a very similar product, but by a different name "UltraWIFIPRO". They offered a 30 day return, but assess you a 15% handling charge. Product didn't live up to the advertised and you're right, old technology. I had bad news for my friend, and they were out 15.00 bucks and the shipping to get the product back to the vendor. Very bad experience for my friends who thought I could fix this for them. So not a good experience. You're doing the public a great service.

Great video! I didn't know that you could search images on Google to see if they are stock images; and moreover, that technique is actually pretty swift sleuthing. That method of sleuthing is not common sense to me.

Thank you for this video, I was wondering about those wifi boosters, but was skeptical. Do you have anything on cell phone signal boosters? I'm going out to the wilderness next month on a black bear hunt for a week straight by myself, and my Sprint signal is lost for any communications in these kind of areas, only the GPS Map feature works on my android. Garmin is just too expensive.

Well, Guess I"ll get burned for failing due diligence. Ordered one (1) a month ago yesterday, still waiting. I thought, who knows....they may be on to something. Now the arduous task of trying to contact them, not expecting success. Then begin a PayPal complaint I guess. Paid $38.99. Well like I said, I share responsibility because I knew better. If I get no reprieve, I'll take it as a reminder to do my due diligence. Appreciate your candid review and subscribed. :-)

I was one of the stupid ones that actually purchased this product. What a scam! It does nothing for your WiFi. At least I only paid $24.00 on Amazon and returned it. I can’t believe Amazon is even selling this scam. Anyway since I can across your channel I have learned a lot so thank you! 😊

Brought this a fews weeks ago under the brand accelerate for 11 pound using in repeater mode to reach the bottom of my garden and its actually working well although the speed slower than when I'm within range of my router

Its the advertising that false, these are made to extend the range of your router to dead spots or poor wifi signal in you home. I use one for an IP security camera over my garage, before it would never stay connected to network, I set this thing up and plugged it in an outlet in garage, connected camera to it, and haven't lost connection since.

I have one,its a repeater,it helps dead spots in the house so where our back bedroom struggled to pick up the WiFi from the hub in the living room,plugging this into the bedroom gives you a signal.
