Lisbon, Portugal, brought tears to our eyes, and we continue on our 12-day Cruise onboard the Carnival Pride out of Dover, England. We dock right downtown Lisbon and do a Hop on Hop Off bus followed by exploring some of the city on foot.

@@CruisingCanucks yes it is. We stayed there for a week a couple of years ago and toured around nearby towns. We went the island of Madeira for the second week. Portugal is lovely.

The bus is a great way to get around. We wondered if we should get off more often - but later we just walked around.

We love the design of ship - not fans of some recent Carnival changes (as folks will see in our vlog coming out tomorrow) It's still a cruise vacation and tons of fun - just different fun!

Food on board looks very good, dare i say a cut above our go to cruise line which is of course Marella as we are Brits.

Great Video! We love Lisbon and usually manage to book a cruise that starts there (usually transatlantic) or includes it in a stop. We never made it up the Santa Justa lift, but I didn't know about the funicular, so next time we'll try that. Glad you had some shady weather to start the day with.

Yes it would have been crazy hot without those clouds. We could have used another day in Lisbon for sure.

Going to Lisbon next year, how does the hop on hop off bus work does it keep the same group of people the whole time and does it return the cruise port

You will be given a map with a route and you and get off when you wish and jump on another bus when ready to go to the next stop. It does a loop so you will end up back at your starting point.

So you go out for few hours and go bk to the cruise just to have lunch, and go back out?

Sometimes we do. Depending on what we have planned and the location of the ship in comparison to the city.

For how long is your bus ticket valid? 24 hours or just one day morning to evening?

We believe one calendar day - but there might have been some hop on hop off buses that are good for 2-days. We googled it from the ship, so you might find some answers online.
