That's an interesting idea. There are a few tools that do a similar thing, hub buster, slide hammer, remove a wheel stud and insert a bolt and nut to force it off, etc. This looks far more civilized, although I'd worry a little about the ear of the caliper mounting bracket. If one of those ears get tweaked out of square, the brake caliper mount won't be aligned with the rotor and the knuckle will need to be replaced. In most cars they are cast iron, so pretty hefty.

I've heard people say they've bent the ears on the knuckle using this. But it looks like it does a good job to me

That’s been my only concern but I just got mine, and in the past a pusher bolt has always been my go to. But I don’t respect backing plates, so I’ll prolly just push thru the plate into another part of the knuckle.

O.k., but what about pressed in hubs? Are there any of these tools that work on them?

An actual press will remove non-hub bearings after you remove the entire spindle.
