So I will note that multiple light aircraft carriers or amphibious assault ships were noted for other nations outside of the US. The US not only has 11 active supercarriers (all of which have an air wing twice the size of the next nation's largest), but also an additional 16 light carriers/amphibious assault ships that carry 25+ aircraft, including the VTOL, F35-Lightning II and Harrier.

@Justin-ui5ti

@@MacTac141 I suppose because Canada has considerable protection with the US military. Alaska is to the North so Canada has Northern support from there to ensure that Russia doesn't get any ideas. The defense of Canada is in the best interest of the US because if Canada is ever attacked, the US is in grave threat of getting attacked. Australia doesn't have that luxury, hence why they have to be a bit more investing into their military defense.

Combined with the increased range, and far better sensors make the QE far more capable than a WASP class. The CdG can carry over 40 aircraft in wartime including 30 Rafale and E-2 Hawkeye (far better AEW than anything the WASP carries) and also has VLS for Aster 15. It is claimed to leave port once a month and travel under its own power. I genuinely think the Royal Thai Navy should dock her in freshwater (up a river perhaps) and keep the ship in reserve. Or alternatively, the steam/electro catapult puts such an enormous strain on the fighter jets airframe, that the US carriers need to be so big that they need to carry a huge inventory of spare parts. But I’m sure the reason behind why they designed the class to be retrofitted with catobar is because good to have that option available in case it’s ever needed

STOVL increases the fuel/combat load back up from STOBAR 🤦. The lift to get off the carrier is generated by the ramp and the lift fan. The F35B off QE is comparable to an F18E/F without range extending tanks in range and fuel. The landing procedure in the QE doesn't require extra fuel for bolters. The SRVL landing mode is the reverse of the take off to increase fuel and bring back.

The Indian INS Vikramaditya is so heavily modified you'll hardly recognise that it was originally the Baku. THe Baku was a hybrid carrier which carried not only aircraft but a whole lot of anti-ship and anti-surface missiles as the Russians intended it to be able to operate solo as they could not build so many carriers plus the escort ships to protect them to be able to challenge American aircraft carrier numbers. The Baku had a smaller flight deck because of this and it operated VSTOL aircraft that can land and take off vertically like the Queen Elizabeth does. THe Indian NAvy wanted a full blown aircraft carrier and because of the lesser number of carriers needed could have proper escort ships for each carrier so the missiles and guns were removed from the Baku and that whole front section was also made part of the flight deck and a take off ramp was added so that aircraft may take off more easily. So now the Indian NAvy uses normal non vertical take off planes off of what is now a much more conventional carrier. As a matter of fact, the Indian NAvy has been operating carriers since way before the SOviets. India has been operating carriers since 1961, way before the Soviets or Chinese had them but we usually just bought foreign carriers and just recently did we build our own carrier called the INS Vikrant which is very similar in size to the VIkramaditya, the ship is currently in sea trials and will join the force soon. THank you to whoever took the time to read that long string of info.

This is an inadequate list. There are many other vessels capable of fixed wing VSTOL, tilt-rotor & rotor-wing operations. Starting with the US Navy's LHAs, LPDs & LSDs. They have around 45 large vessels, out of a total fleet of ~500, which are capable of operating multiple aircraft for military purposes. More vessels are always under construction as replacements or to expand capabilities. Many nations have built vessels in recent years which may be modified to operate 5th generation VSTOL aircraft. Japan has four DDH "helicopter destroyers" which are in fact light carriers with full flight decks. F-35 fighters & V-22 tilt-rotors are changing the way naval & marine forces with operate as I write this.

That is so immense infrastructure. There have to be thousands of people just to keep one of those American carriers operating. The Americans can take care of 50. Russians cannot take care of one. Instead, they start killing their own kind, while their total capital production is less than that of the Netherlands. The Russians think they are super-power by killing children. Well, that kind of does not work at all. It will backfire, badly.

Kuznezov and the Chnease variants are very diferent. while the original ones are not clasifyed as Carriers but Aircraft caring Missle cruisers since teh Montreux convention prohibits CVs from coming in or out of the Turkish controlled black sea acress. They carrie a lage number of very large Anti ship missles while the chinease versions did drop thease missles entirely giving them a very diferent mission profile. Also arguably Anfibius asault ships care no Aircraf carriers while some can operate aircrafts they canot long term suport them. By that Metric some of Japans Helecopter Destroyers are more of a CV since their primary role is aircraft/helecoper opteration.

There should be a BIG asterix next to the Kuznetzov for a number of reasons, primarily that is has been in dry dock for years and reports are that Ivan has given up trying to repair it.

Thailand, japan, South Korea,Brazil, Egypt,and Turkeye have Helicopter Carrier not Air craft carriers. Helicopter carriers have a similar appearance to other aircraft carriers but operate only helicopters . But Air craft carriers are those that not only operate helicopters but can also operate fixed-wing aircrafts mainly. They have both on dack short runway and helipads. Runway is equipped with catapults and arresters.
