In 1992, this epically inspiring speech resonated with my frustrated 15-year-old self and so many of us. As it seemingly reverberated around the world, it offered us some glimmer of hope that the adults in charge might finally listen to reason and give the next generation the chance to change and do better. Yet in 30 years, our immense technological progress mostly seems to distract us from the repeated utter failings on a global scale.
@brebrown53388 ай бұрын
It’s funny how that’s what you got from it. How about the same old routine of using kids to fire up the youth on global issues that aren’t real. Holes in the ozone? Where did that go? Now we have Greta doing the same thing over global warming. Again, a made up narrative that will disappear in a couple decades when we aren’t under water. They are shameless and people make money off of this. Just ask Al Gore.

This wasn't heard then, and too little has changed in the intervening years ; those that should have listened then had their ears so far up the backsides of Corporate Profiteers that it didn't matter who might have been talking. Children are told they " are the future " and yet , when they try to responsibly speak what's on their hearts and minds they are told they " don't understand" . Greta's Message isn't plagiarism , it's the Loop of Warning that those with the ability to make change happen, refuse to hear now, as back then. God Help Us.

This used to be posted as a YT video (now taken down) a decade or more ago, called something along the lines of "the greatest speech ever", and I remember it clearly because I keep going back to it since it was a really compelling speech. Fast forward 2023, I search 'greatest speech ever' but I find out the old video was gone and my search is filled with videos of other supposedly 'great' speeches - one of the channels that claims to post the greatest speech is a channel called 'Alpha Male'. I can't help but feel that since a decade ago, there has been a radical shift to the right and the 'idea' that the Overton window is what it is now with people talking more openly with their conservative points with no willingness to hear the other side as being apart of this radical shift. The same could be claimed of the radical left. But although this is true it can't be said it's because of the views themselves. The way apps are being built, with their filters and the algorithms behind these social platforms with their 'experts' who strategise how to pull the viewer more into a streamline view (of like-like posts) - it could be blamed for undermining a free flow discussion where you have multiple perspectives who are able to share. However because of the filters they put into pockets groups of people with like minded views and opinions. But being aware of this, one should have a moral obligation to hear out the other views with a stance of initial non-judgement until it's clear that it's either extreme, diagonal, false, genuine, funny, sad, happy. The real problem is that we are so readily open to judge the other and would only hold onto those views most like our own... Or who's interests align with ours we forget what being egalitarian really means. Not to mention the trolls who intentionally create dissenting opinions out of bad faith. Which the social platforms supposedly support, but forget that the nature of social network is to develop bubbles not a pool.

Hello We are an environmental movement organization composed of Yongin Elementary School teachers in South Korea. We want to educate children about the seriousness of the climate and environmental problems. Can we use some of your videos to make educational contents? (It will be 3 or 4 seconds) It's only for classes in school, not for commercial use. We are looking forward to your reply. Thanks.

Huh? Nothing happened? The crisis is become more worse. That means the world leaders at that time and the majority of human failed her generation. And now it's Greta Thunberg time to deliver the same alarm. Will the world leader and the majority of human failed the young generation again?

@@DBT1007 30 years ago we thought there was going to be an ice age and that the air would not be breathable in 20 years because all the trees were cut down. the trees were replanted and she is living in the big city are you saying she was right?

Nothing happened? The sea is becoming higher and mo that did not happen (the ice age) but now it is coming sooner and we need to act now before it is even later We are already late and have done irreversable damage but if we act now then we have a world

@@beansontoast8819 the ocean will raise a few inches over decades nothing you can do about that it was going to happen anyway due to soil erosion naturally occurring. this girl like Greta thinks the world is going to end in 10 years and that is just not true why are people scaring their children to panic and depression? By act now you mean massive government control and taxes? yea governments are so good at fixing things lol
