Someone said these songs were made for Coachella, not an album. I can't say I disagree. I can say they absolutely murdered Coachella with these songs, and I went to the Atlanta concert and they killed it there too. KtL, Kick It, and especially Don't Know What To Do are absolutely incredible live.

after visiting their concert in amsterdam, i can say with confidence the new album was made with big performances in mind. they were so good for the concert environment compared to earlier songs. And Hope Not live is like one of my favorite things ever

I totally agree when you analyze Jisoo and Rose as a singer. When it comes to skills, voice concentration all that kind of stuff, most of the time Rose does it better. But for some reason, Jisoo's singing really got that magical something that touch me in a deeper level inside. There is nothing about skills or techniques. Maybe it's empathy or some kind of emotions match. That is what made Jisoo my soild bias.

He will be my favourite forever for the fact of his love for Jisoo

The one thing I do not like about the album is how simple the vocal arrangement is. There is no vocal mixing of the group members, no interplay of the singers. One person sings, then the next person sings, then one person raps, then it repeats. If you look at their Miguel song cover, that song is so much more complex than what teddy produces. The only song where they even try to attempt this is Hope Not, which is (not surprisingly) my favorite song in the mini album.

I really appreciate how Lisa is getting singing lines on this album. Can't wait for Jisoo and Rosé to start rapping :)

I can’t stand that Teddy keeps writing songs for them which end without a third chorus, like he builds up the momentum right at the end and then ends the song without realizing it. He did it with DDDD, Kill This Love, Don’t Know What to Do, and Playing With Fire (although the ending does feel super satisfying with that song and it remains my favourite BP song)

I wish they would give Jennie more rap lines than singing lines. Jennie is the main rapper of the group, but she hasn’t rap in more than half of their songs. We haven’t even seen all of Jennie’s potential as a rapper.

Rosé and Jisoo compliment each other perfectly. Rosie has a more breathy voice and uses a lot of her head space, adding a brighter tone to her voice. Whereas with Jisoo she has a darker tone and uses less of her head voice making it seem more “mature”. They are so different, but together their voices are perfectly balanced!

Good video PD. I love it when a group member is not at his or her best when the group starts, but then relentlessly improves comeback after comeback. Hyerin has done/is doing it for EXID and Jisoo's doing this for BlackPink. I'm so proud of them and it's always great to hear their talent blossom and their confidence rise like a rocket into the sky.

I feel like this album kinda focus on the vocals, Jisoo and Rosé, compared to the rap line, Jennie and Lisa or those two just stand out more this era. I know a lot of people will say otherwise, but it just feels that way for me. Jennie and Jisoo kinda stood out In the D4 era in my opinion, and the songs felt kinda more fast pace compared to the songs in this album. The Jenlisa rap part really had the Jenlisa shipper inside me fangirling even harder, but I still feel like Chaesoo shined more this era. I kind of wished they added a fifth song instead of the remix so that we can have just one more song, but I still love the remix. Also, Kick it is my favorite song from this album.

First i didn't like the remix but after the concert i went to in Amsterdam i really enjoyed it! especially during the concert, it's made to be performed at concerts and festivals!

Stay was in a similar style combining western indie and pop songs (similar to songs by one direction, the vamps) but hope not was more similar to British classic rock (similar to the Beatles’ yesterday, in my life) while still keeping aspects of their musical style

It very much seems to be a breakup album, every song seems to be like the stages of a breakup: anger, loneliness, relief/getting over the pain, hopefulness, and then change (remix)

I did really enjoy BP's new album. I didn't love it, but I really liked it. That said, I loved Hope Not, just as I did with Stay. I actually like their acoustic tracks the most and they wouldn't have as such big an audience as they do now if they went down this route (just because the genre doesn't appeal as widely as their current main style) but I kinda wish their main discography was like Hope Not and Stay with side tracks like DKWTD and Kick It. I just think every member's voice and style are so much more displayed and accented, and Hope Not is the first BP song that has made me really feel emotion out of their discography.

I think they really wanted to focus on vocals than instrumentals in this album. this album never bores me btw because it's interesting.

The producers honestly know what they’re doing cause these songs sounds a bit weird at first because of the transitions but if you go to their live show and they perform these songs it’s gonna be lit as hack!! I have to disagree with Rosé being over all superior when compared to Jisoo I personally think they’re on the same level due to the fact that where one is missing the other one fills in but since Rosé can do higher notes I do think that she is more suited to be main vocalist Edit:) i’m just saying this is why we have main and lead vocalist they cover each other so perfectly and it something really unique to K-pop

I loved the album. Not as much as square up but i enjoyed it a lot. I dont think this album is watered down per se but they definitely had the songs stripped down in general. Everything was a lot clearer and had more of an acoustical background to it. It seemed minimalist to me. That being said i hope they dont lose what made them so popular in the first place. And thats being kpop. Adding such a western influence makes me kind of iffy in which direct Blackpink is going. RM from BTS said that they dont want to lose sight of who they are and make an entire english album because thats not who they are. They are a korean band who happen to add english lyrics where they seem fit.

I think each of the girls definitely shined on a certain song. Jennie’s style suited kill this love, rose on don’t know what to do, Lisa on kick it, and Jisoo on hope not. I think the live performances actually make you appreciate the songs more and you can see the intention of each track when put in the context of their concerts.
