To answer some of your questions, Marina is an artist and the 'diamonds' refers to her fans. All three of these songs are from her second album which was a concept album where she tried to talk about love in ways it usually isn't. She also worked with American music producers for that album when usually she writes music that's a bit less mainstream pop because she was trying to show the corruption of American ideals through the album/character. I think that your comparison to Katy Perry shows that she did a great job in mirroring mainstream pop vibes.

Part 2 please!! And please listen to the lyrics, they’re super important in her music because they are not separated from the music but it compliments it. Her music, specially Electra heart album is about irony and sarcasm (that’s why they’re mostly cheesy pop song beats with serious lyrics)

Marina & The Diamonds is a band the same way that Florence & The Machine is a band. EDIT: Turns out it’s just a stage name or something along those lines. The Katy Perry comparison is fine. The Electra Heart era is very U.S. pop inspired due to the characterisation of Electra Heart. The other albums The Family Jewels and Froot are distinctly different. All three songs were from Electra Heart, so I can’t wait for you to hear songs from The Family Jewels & Froot.

Love that you're reacting to her! Electra Heart is a really interesting concept album, she's talked a lot in interviews about the concept of the whole era. Her other two albums are incredible too and she's coming out with new music this year.

A song I love by Marina is Oh No! It's super catchy with a really interesting perspective on fame and its effects on a person :) Valley of the Dolls is also super good!! The vocals are amazing and the concept is rad and UGH I love it so much!!! I hope you listen to more of her :D

You definitely need to react to songs from her first and third albums. They’re much more true to her artistry than the second one (which the three songs you heard were from). Hollywood, I Am Not A Robot, Oh No, Obsessions, Happy, Savages, Can’t Pin Me Down, and Froot (the song) are all great and varied representations of what else Marina can do.

I’m so glad you liked her!! I recently got back into my Marina and the Diamonds phase, haha, so I’ve been listening a bit nonstop. Also, don’t worry about living under a rock, haha, I love your reaction videos. If you’re looking for more suggestions, Icon For Hire is a pretty unknown but still really cool band! (Or, you know, I’m always open for a part two to the Fall Out Boy reaction)
