@@Mortimer_RS The US sound track was also trying to tell a story, and it succeeded to us 90s kids. I would never have loved this game, nor become the Sonic fan I am today, if my first experience had been the JP/EU soundtrack. I wouldn't have been humming the cheesy 80s cop chase music for Stardust Speedway at Scout camp back then the way I was belting out the US Bad Future. The US soundtrack was heavily inspired by SatAM and the explosion of electronic and rock music that was prevalent at the time. My biggest gripe is that the time crunch limited their effectiveness, leading to several tracks being split into segments to play on different time states instead of being properly remastered to be unique.

I understand that the US version of this soundtrack is the iconic ELECTRIC GUITAR, bro the US electric guitar is a tremendous bomb to make rock music for a video game like Spiderman for the Sega CD (I recommend listening to its soundtrack is a gem)

Honestly, my only real complaint with the US OST is that the Bad Future themes really don't carry the same weight as their JP counterparts. Not as much "okay, this is a Problem!" energy, ya know? Stardust Speedway (Bad Future) still be bangin, tho

The themes in the US version focus more on atmosphere than on the characters, which I think is the reason people prefer the Japanese version.

Yeah, in my opinion, the JP tracks are better than the US. Not hating on the US, but there's a reason JP tracks has been remixed and used in other sonic games. For example, Sonic Mania's take in Stardust and Metallic zones.

Glad to see some appreciation for the US ost. It's really overlooked because it doesn't hook people as fast as the jP/EU ost with most of the US tracks sounding like ambient industrial/urban music but honestly I vastly prefer Sonic Boom over Believe in myself/Cosmic Eternity, especially the credits version. I really love the guitar in the credits version of Sonic Boom. But how could you do Tidal Tempest Bad Future like that and cut it short? That was my favorite US track

I try to switch between the two versions. Begin with US for Sonic Boom, JP and then back to sonic boom ending credits. With that said listening now the US version really has it’s own unique sound different from all the other classic games thanks to that heavy bass and electric guitar.

Sega really need to rerelease the Sonic Boom CD Album. Being able to listen to Quartz Future on demand would really improve my daily mood. Also Tidal Tempest Bad Future is the only song I've ver heard to really capture the feelings of diving in and out of the water.

1:45 you will never convince that Collision Chaos Present (JP) is better than the US version. The Japanese version is a decent dance song whereas the US version just has an aura of mystery and tension to it that I just love!

I feel that way about Wacky Workbench (US) as well. JP one isn't bad, but the US one just feels more fitting to all the bouncing and stuff you do in the level.

I think that Collison Chaos Present and GF in the JP are better. The US Versions don't sound unique enough and the US Present really is kinda dark to begin with. However I do still enjoy the US versions. Where the US in Collison Chaos shines though much more than JP is the Bad Future. The JP is cool but it sounds hollow and empty. On the other hand, the US is perfectly dark and melancholy.

Finally some love for the US soundtrack. Sonic Boom is my overall favorite Sonic theme and Quartz Quadrant Bad Future is my favorite Bad Future from the soundtrack.

us soundtrack representation makes me happy :) i adore the jp ost, but the us ost is amazing too. especially sonic boom's ending version (which is better than cosmic eternity imo)
