@@TheKnizzine The novel isn't in proper continuity with the games though so going into it expecting SMT sets the wrong expectations It's basically just the origin of the concept and has some elements in common with the SMT franchise. Best one is how the main character is a misanthropic prettyboy just like basically every Megaten protag except Yu and Flynn.

You take V-rgil, FF7 Remake, and P5S and SMT5's evolution of overworld traversal mechanics, and you just put them together. With the collective experience and iteration of the current generation, can't go wrong.

2 years later, I had a dream about a character action SMT game, but instead of Raidou, the character I was controlling was Nahobino, but Raidou was in there too, so there were multiple playable characters, I guess.

Best setting and one of the best overall SMT games

While i do like the settings in both Devil Survivor games, i feel that Woolie would probably have the most fun with the Deep Strange Journey story out of all of the spinoff SMT games.

It's pretty much just the first act of smt 1 but thats the entire game, which I like.

*EDIT:* Oh I see what you mean by "2 parallel universes of distance" Persona follows SMT If, which is a what if scenario where the apocolypse in SMT1 doesn't occur. Persona 2 is the most explicit about call backs to earlier MegaTen games on the timeline, but even the "modern" three are connected - Persona 3 has one or two lines of dialogue confirming it's a soft reboot of the series, not a totally new continuity.

The power of the amala network is truly vast and endless. Persona-verse is literally part of the amala network after all. It's a timeline where certain events happened that prevented it from becoming smt-1.

@@zomboids2100 The Amala Network connects SMT III's worlds, no others, it's never mentioned in any other game outside of III, so I wouldn't assume that it's a centrepoint for all of Megaten. Especially since the Terminals don't appear outside of III either, and they're necessary to travel the Amala Network. I'd say the Akarana Corridor is more likely to connect everything, since it actually peeks into another Time line. SMT I/II's timeline.

demons can definitely invade the real world in the Persona timeline, seeing as it happens in If..., P1, and P2 the thing with Nyx is a retcon that doesn't even mesh that well with things we already saw in the earlier Persona games, I'm not even sure if it's still canon

SMT 4A doesn't explain anything. The timeline stops at SMT 2. All the games after have nothing to do with each other. It's just references no real connections. SMT 4/4A is the steel ball run of SMT 1 and 2. Nocturne, Strange Journey and most likely V are their own universe. The only games that really matter in the SMT timeline is raidou 1/2, SMT 1, Nine, Imagine and 2.

You don't really meet anyone from Persona in the Raidou games, but it is in the same timeline as them, since the Devil Summoner games have a crossover character from ...If and P1 and 2

Persona itself is a spin off series of SMT. So calling it an older family member is pretty on the mark. But as the multiple series split off into their own multidimensional wibbly wobbly existence and timelines. The persona games are just closed off in their own specific line of games.

Allow me to give a small idea of how dark smt can get. Little bit of spoiler for smt-iv down below don't read if you intend on playing. In iv there's a place called reverse hills that's under the control of tayama and his faction. They've created a sort of pact/deal with demons to protect themselves and other people living under the dome. What this deal entails? Well to stop demons from killing and eating humans, they've created a means of extracting magnetite from people, which is what demons consume, and manage to condense magnetite into red pills. But to extract it requires them to drain magnetite from the brain/spinal cord of a living person and takes time to cultivate, so they have multiple subjects strapped to medical beds with various tubes and needles hooked into their skulls while "living" in coma-like states essentially being drained of life essence. And you wanna know what's worse? Children produce higher/stronger concentrations of magnetite, there's conversations of women in reverse hills who are being used as breeders to procreate children as well a scene where a young man is talking like an innocent little child while he had magnetite being extracted from him. Yep, a human farm where children are born and grow up in a facility to be later drained of their very life in mass production of red pills for demons to satiate their hunger.

The Devil Summoner series feels like the creepy, goofy uncle in the back who means well, will occasionally blow up a BBQ, but you still invite him over because he livens up the place. Mainline SMT is the mom who just goes 'this is why we can't have nice things' as she throws you off a building
