Literature Based Homeschool: cheap and easy home school options that actually work

A literature-based homeschool is one in which children learn at their own pace, and read books that are suited to their interests and ability level whenever possible. Homeschool curriculums often miss the mark as they are one-size-fits-all, and by their nature can't be perfectly suited to a unique child.

This is awesome. We try to teach out kids to read early too so that independence and confidence can be fostered earlier. It’s gotten harder since we have more kids now but I still stand by it. Just subscribed. I also have a channel with tons of homeschooling content. It would be fun to be friends and connect here. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

We are all about keeping things simple in our homeschooling as well!! What a cool approach, I had never considered literature based learning but it makes a LOT of sense.

This sounds a lot like the Robinson curriculum. Was that the inspiration? Love how simple and straightforward your approach is!

I've been inspired by Charlotte Mason, as well as John Holt and John Taylor Gatto. Focusing on the basics has always made a lot of sense to me :)

That happened to me..My middle child thinks she can't write (she can) but she feels insecure...My youngest doesn't know how to read yet...I am working on both of those things but also that insecurity could be a self propeller to learn without the nagging or cohesion from a parent. I have all that she needs to practice...she also has to want to do it...

Thank you! I recently came across literarure based homeschooling and this really helped. I have a 4 yr old and 2 yr old so I've started with my older one with teaching him how to read. For his age, do you recommend just getting books that he chooses himself?

I'm so glad you found the video helpful ❤️. I'd let him pick, but I'd also pick books for him that you think he'd like that may stretch him a bit.

The ordinary parents to teaching reading. Then Bob books once they got the hang of things. Anything that teaches phonics is a good start.

@@HomeschoolVoices my son is 5yo, he is following the same schedule. Starting with letters and sounds at age 3, bob books at age 4, additions and substractions (less then 10) at age 5 :-) it's great!! I hope to achieve the same with my doughter. She is motivated because she wants to copy her brother. She feels left behind when I read bob books with her brother
