Join us, Carol & Ken, as we take a trip to the New Forest in our Consort Nova Motorhome called Snoopy.
In this video, it’s not a good start to the day as we discover someone in a car last night had dumped their rubbish at the back of our van! After clearing up their mess, we head into Lymington for the Saturday market.
As the market starts to get busy we make our escape to the tranquility of Setley Pond to relax for the afternoon.
The following day we visit a favourite old haunt, Lyndhurst. We take a walk around the town to see what’s changed and enjoy a recipe sent in by a subscriber for lunch.

Ah what a charming area! I like the mackerel pate idea, will make some today for my tea. I have some fresh dill and a baguette from a farmer’s market visit yesterday. Your van is so cozy, and as alarm your easy companionship is so lovely.

Yalking about doing things in town centre carparks. I once had a very close escape. As i lowered myself onto the old chemical loo with the bootjump. I accidentally knocked the tail gate opening switch and almost mooned everyone in Tesco Carpark!! 😂🐕🚙

What we definitely like about your new camper snoopy is that it is made to be comfortable, to stretch and relax without moving around a lot of stuff, perfect for us people of a certain age, though we noticed it is a bit noisy while driving?

Having picked up three points for driving at 50 in a contraflow in the middle of nowhere with no one there in the early evening, which they had sneakily dropped to 30, I'm now very glad of my “beep beep”, as I call it, in the new van.

Nice breakfast idea. Sardines in tomato sauce cheese on top with pepper on toast. Bake under the grill to brown and melt the cheese. Is lush x

I've often done litter picks, and never filmed or said anymore. But I once filmed.ed a group of lads in several cars dump bags of litter, lucky for me I had them on dash cam so it went to local council along with reg.

Every where me and the Mrs park up, we litter pick. Always try to leave the place better than we turned up. 9 times out of 10 its lads at night having a smoke, I’ve seen them doing it. Worst place I’ve been to is thetford forest with poo bags everywhere. Chatted with locals and they said “well there’s no bins”, don’t think they’ve heard of taking rubbish home!

I like Ken's approach at 28.00 mins - Passing on technical advice so that Carol can't blame Ken if there are any fine bones that might snag in her teeth as Ken wasn't responsible for mashing up the mackerel - nice one Ken!

Driving on the motorway in Yorkshire. I was so disappointed at the amount of litter on the bankings of the roads. I've yet to see picking up litter as part of community service from the courts handed out.We do have thousands of people sat, around in hotels getting paid for doing nothing. They should be earning their keep at least.

They seem to have adopted a policy of just leave it these days. I agree we should be utilising the lower grade cons to do all sorts of community work. Maybe they do but I have not seen it for ages. Our neighbourhoods, street signs and paths should be pristine 👍

I am now 70 but 63 years ago, England had a ´Litter Lout' campaign. A woman waiting for a bus was eating sweets and throwing the wrappers on the ground. So I told her off, called her a litter lout and she picked them up and put them in her pocket! I see not much has changed.

Thanks for the tours of Great Britain. It's interesting to see vanlife over there. The trash problem is even worse here in the U.S. Being a full-time RVr who often roadside camps, we're wrongly blamed for throwing trash outside too. Good for you for cleaning up the mess! 👍👌

Another great video, all of it was so very nice, the ponies enjoying the grass and sunshine as well as the dogs having a great time in the water....all the various shops you went into as well as the window shopping... and Ken's very amusing remarks as to all that is going on around you while sitting unseen in your comfortable, warm van!!!! thanks for sharing...

So true Ken - the litterbugs are not usually campers, like you - we always leave the place better than we found it, and I’m certain other van users do the same. The markets look popular, nice town. We walked into Lymington last Saturday from our campsite, 6 miles round trip. We enjoyed the market, bought some lovely local cheese, a pair of garden secateurs from the tool stall, and a gorgeous apron, pan holder and a towel from a stall run by two wonderful ladies who hand make all of their productss. The fabric I chose is of vintage VW campervans 😀. We park at Boulders Bench, but have never walked up the hill to the trees, must do that next time. I noticed the cafe in Lyndhurst is dog friendly, so must remember that too for next time. We love the camping shop in Lyndhurst, we bought a beach umbrella there on our most recent trip two weeks ago for shade for Bateman, it works a treat. Well done re the litter picking, some people are disgusting and don't deserve to enjoy our beautiful countryside. We're always litter picking. Have a great week. ❤️🐾🚐 Xx

Another great video. I like how you insert little comments here and there, especially the comical ones. Carol, your expression was priceless when Ken said you’d been broken into several times. Living in rural Iowa we don’t experience the troubles of city living, our troubles come in the 4 legged varieties! Skunks, possums, raccoons, foxes, deer that eat my garden, naughty critters! You just reminded me about car being broken into. It used to be a big problem and they would break in to steal the radio or CDs or any items left in the car. I also had a car stolen by joy riders in the 90s. It was so common in the UK but you don’t hear about it so much now. Thankfully it’s over 20 years since my car was last broken into. Thanks for sharing another interesting video.

It used to be such a problem in the New Forest we stopped going for a few years. When I was in the job the government made car crime a priority and we almost wiped it out. Other crimes began to grow so they dropped that.

Having been brought up in the New Forest and your segment of Boltons Bench, brought back memories. Particularly where you sat at the bench, that very view down the slope….took me back to the Winter 62/63 with heavy snow. My dad made a wooden sledge and set me off on it down that very slope. Unfortunately he hadn’t taken into consideration the possibility (very likely) of me hitting a bump in the snow and the fact that he hadn’t built the slats lengthwise, but across! I can still feel that pain I got in the derriere region! 😳

Hi . Just a thought , we use a silicone mat on our cooker lid . Protects it and is also none slip , when cooker is in use we transfer it to our table. Also very easy to clean. Regards Vince and Dee.

Reminds of staying down there as a kid ina a camper..and unfortunately got kicked by a horse,,cos course I was feeding it ,and they are wild ponies .so the horse swung round and gave me a belter ,,in the leg and back..I was alright but had a big hoof mark on my thigh.i Keep my distance after that ..although I have horses of my own now..but still wary of back legs..love ur videos thanks Carol n Ken.

I have made the pate with Quark which is cheaper than cream cheese. It's still a low fat soft cheese. Thanks for another excellent video, oh try the pate with salmon dill and quark. That's lovely as well 😊

The best one I heard was when the wife and I were in Portugal and it was said that motorhomes wild camping were the cause of all the rubbish but when you looked at the pictures that accompanied the write up it was tile's, sinks and house furniture, basically everything out of a house.

The man with a key was probably a forester..Got ponies, or donkeys or steers out on the Forest and so can have more access to go check on his stock..Wonderful seeing all my old haunts..I was brought up in the Forest and I miss it a lot..I recognised everywhere you went..I loved going down memory lane..👍 😀

That’s the quietest I’ve seen Lyndhurst in the morning! I’m sorry you had to pick up someone else’s rubbish. Really enjoying your New Forest series. I also make mackerel pate, but use my stick blender for the mackerel, makes a much smoother pate. Works well with smoked salmon too.

The Scottish Highland Council has now put a scheme in place, where for £40 in total you can use park ups, waste emptying, toilets and showers at council owned liesure facilities. Seems like a good scheme and good value and the council, I am sure have introduced it, with the best of intentions for all, including the environment but the camping site owners up in that area along the NC500 are up in arms, saying that the Highland council is now in direct competition with them and are driving them out of business. Your thoughts on the matter ? In my experience, it is very unusual for Scots to feel as if they are being badly done to and never seem to routinely moan about their lives and how they are treated ? lol.

Competition is healthy. The sites will have to offer a better deal and ambience. The UK need to wake up and exploit the Motorhome/Camper market that is out there. France cracked this years ago 😁👍
