Aren't these 19th century little pocket pistols cute? This is another palm-type hideout gun, named the "Little All Right" and patented in 1876. It's actually a pretty basic revolver mechanism, just put into an unusual style of body with a strange trigger. It holds 5 rounds of .22 Short, and fires double action. Only a few hundred (perhaps a thousand) were made, which is understandable once you handle one. While the gun is small, the reach to the trigger is actually quite long, and the trigger itself is rather heavy. That combination would actually make it a bit difficult to shoot. It also forces you to wrap your hand around the cylinder gap, which couldn't be too pleasant when shooting.

Interesting design. it certainly has its issues, and a NAA mini revolver in 22WMR is more compact and a good deal more powerful. Another issue I see with this little guy: you have a rotating cylinder that you inevitably will touch and grab with your hand. If the grip is too tight you'll have a hard time rotating it when you pull the trigger - not that good if you seriously have to use this gun at almost point-blank range in a self-defense situation. Neat little design, however. Probaly would have been better with the frame of a Reform pistol or rightout as a common semi-automatic.
@BigSam63
@BigSam63 3 жыл бұрын
Ian, have you considered adding a box of snap caps to your regular filming equipment? You could have a small box that hold one snap cap each of various calibers and that would allow you to safely dry fire more weapons. Thanks for the great content.

lots of jokes about how under powered this is, but it would actually be pretty viable. .22 short is weak, but not harmless. much better than those little 2mm cap guns marketed as "pocket pistols" in those times, you're better off just throwing those "guns" at your attacker and hoping you hit them in the eye. at least with this, you can actually manage to kill or injure them lol

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for tiny guns, and have owned several, however none quite as small as that, my smallest was the NAA mini revolver in .22 Short. I also had the High Standard .22 Magnum and of course, a .32 Davis Derringer. My first Derringer was one of those little .38 Special junk guns, after a few rounds I decided that my hand loads were needed, so I went with a reversed hollow based wad-cutter and just a few grains of bulls-eye to make it go down the barrel. Not something I would carry if I my life depended on it. For that, I used to have a Star PD, but sold it years ago, now to take it's place I picked up a Citadel M1911A1 in the General Officers cut, very compact but the damn thing makes my pants fall down if I carry her in my pocket and don't wear suspenders.

I had one of those little tiny pistols, but I accidentally swallowed it in a handful of raisins. It took me three days to get it back!

From what do you suppose the grip panels were made? They look like zytel.

It's basically a Bullpup North American Arms revolver.

The shape and trigger seem very similar to the USFA zip gun

If this was at higher calibers, it would seem like an interesting gun for the mafia. a small gun the size of a cigarette box, looks like you're holding a stone of sorts, and can fire it during an uppercut or fist fight. Truly a strange weapon, but amazing inspiration for cyberpunk content

A gun that's guaranteed to burn or slice your hand when you fire it seems like a pretty bad idea, just because you'd probably end up flinching or being unwilling to fire the gun when you needed to, or you'd be too shocked by having your hand get bit that trying to get a follow up shot would be difficult. Seems like the ideal gun for someone who was... less smart, but more paranoid about assassins. Or an assassin who would be ready with gloves and able to sneak up and shoot all five rounds as quickly as possible.

I would like to have seen it fire! If I had it I think I would make a handgrip to fit on top of it and fire it upside down.
