I attempted to make a quick trip to Little Bighorn Battlefield. I soon learned that you need more than an hour to visit. I have always wanted to visit Little Bighorn Battlefield. I learned that you need much more than an hour to really take in the experience.
In this video I give some travel tips and show some of the many views from Little Bighorn Battlefield and Custer National Cemetery. I recommend at least 4 hours to visit this amazing piece of our history.

Angie & I visited there in 2000. They had a great presentation of the events of the battle involving a large 3D map of the area in the center of the room. While the timeline of the battle was being discussed, the area on the map lite up. It was very sobering afterward to go out and wander the park. Angie told me that visiting there once was enough for her as she felt an uneasy spirit permeated the area and it left her feeling "cold".

Thanks! After listening to the book I have to go back. I must have felt some of the same vibes Angie did I was taken totally off guard. Tiny watched it and told me my dad served the 7th Cav. I thought he was 1st Cav but Tiny sent me some pics I'll be posting on my community tab and FB. Thanks for watching brother!

Great visit and advice. My only visit to LBH was ten minutes. I was part of a school field camp heading back to Boston. We basically got out, used the bathrooms and got back on the road. Heart breaker. Never back.

Thank you so much Lucy! I think the music choice is what took the most time of the editing process. I'm glad it made an impact. Thanks for watching!

Just found your site. You did a good job considering the time constraints. I visited three times a long time ago, before the improvements like the interpretive signs today. Like you, the first time I barely knew what I was looking at. Third time, I hired a guide to point out the history and terrain. I need to get back there since I have never seen the Indian Memorial. Thanks for the video. Evoked old memories.

It was a crazy experience. I don't know if you remember, but I think one of the book on CD we had at the coyote farm was the one I listened to on the way home. I really want to go back and get a better understanding of it all.

I think Custer wanted to ford the river to get to the Indians' encampment but couldn't find a place to ford, so they were stuck on the northeast side of the LBH river. They always talk about hills, like these terrain landmarks would afford the soldiers protection or advantage, but the hills were gradual rises in otherwise rolling prairie land. IMO they would have done better to duck down into ravines, at least they would have had some cover. Their horses were their only escape, and once those were gone it was over for Custer. There was nowhere to run, hide, take cover, anything. They couldn't run five miles back to join R&B's companies. Some soldiers prob thought R&B's troops were similarly attacked by waves of Indians.
