The final stopover before going home - Hong Kong!
My generation has been very much influenced by Hong Kong culture. We grew up watching HK movies and listening to HK music, yet it was my first time in HK!
So during this short stay I went out to experience its landscape and traditions. I went for villain hitting, grabbed some food, and hopped on the tramway...
It was definitely an unforgettable experience and exciting way back home.

Honest question wanting honest answer. In the coming bloody war in east asia that the west/nato appears determined to spread to the East, do malaysian-chinese side with china or america? What about singapore-chinese? Looks like singapore (and philippines) gov't have already sided with US. I'm just asking, not challenging (tho actually I do take sides, which side may surprise u given my name).

@@maxdc988 Sadly, there are varying degrees of discrimination and wealth transfer almost everywhere. Especially in the hypocritical, so-called "advanced" economy nations of the west. Their taxes are insane and discrimination is just different and superficially concealed, is all

Nice to see you safely in Hong Kong. It's unfortunate that we Chinese are divided into various nationalities due to the countries we are living in. But we are truly one in heart and nature. I have been called a China man in Malay language it's orang China; even though I was born and bred in Malaysia. But it doesn't hurt us very much. For me I always look forward to seeing the best in everything and everyone. It's a shame that geopolitics have changed the landscape of human solidarity and society into something that we appreciate anymore.

I love how open and understanding you are everywhere you visit! That’s how passionate travelers are 🥰 We travel to experience new things and to meet new people, right? It’s about the people and the places, not politics or judgement. I feel bad for those who only see the world through a lense of politics and bias. I’m glad you show HKC. As a 3rd generation Chinese Canadian, I always heard my grandpa praise his native city. I believe each minority and each province in China has their local culture and their identity. HKC is also different. I grewup hearing my parents cantonese pop song and watch HK drama and evening shows. I visit once HKC. I realize that our Canadian Cantonese recipe are sweeter for the sqme pastry and the American version is usually more salty for the same dumpling. The downside of HKC is how dense the city is… it’s almost suffocating. We were use to more green space … i was pretty much depressed the whole week there. But the pros is the people. I love the sens of humor and self derision of the locaux. They are quite open to western culture and they cherish friendship as much than family. In China, family always come first and may be only aspect of of your social life. I believe two factors may explain it: 1) the tiny living space HKC , most people spend most of their day outside their appartement so they need buddies to hangout 2) the colonisation past had bring wealth for the last century and people can afford to have hobbies and entertainment for a long time now The big downside is everything is much more expensive than the rest of China. Here we needs to tips like in North America but you don’t in China…but maybe it has change in China since I visited.

Hong Kong was where I first landed upon visiting China in 2007. I loved it! Rode in an openair double-decker bus and marveled at the huge trees. I no longer remember their name. I bought pastry in a shop & when I said "thank you" in Mandarin the clerk was surprised! I was thrilled to see the Chinese medicine shops. Super thrilled to see high scaffolding made of bamboo. The crowded streets, endless shops & good-natured bustling around were really fun!

I have been to Hong Kong, many years ago, the British were still on power. I loved the place, I did prefer it compare to New York, for example, it was expensive, but very organised, clean, and I have enjoyed. I also went to Lantau Island, saw the Tian Tan Buddha, that it was "something", I had a meal in the monastery with the monks. Yan, you are very good in doing videos, and you are also speaking clearly, interesting to hear about your discovery's, very pleasant , nice and lovely person you are.

A superb video again Yan! I always want to visit wherever you go - you make everything so interesting! As a photographer I’d love to tackle the incredible HK skyline or the enormous apartment block which really looks like something from another world. I would not want to be on the receiving end of that ‘villain hitting’ curse though - that looks a very thorough ritual! Good to hear your comments at the start of the video too. We are all aware these days of political situations we may not agree with, but you are a shining example of why we need to appreciate people for who they are. Your wide-eyed enthusiasm for different cultures is so positive and appreciated. I can’t wait for the next instalment…keep up the amazing work 😊💜

Nice content Yan..been to HK several years back, pre-covid, it was my 3rd visit. My first visit was in the late 80s (and from there I visited mainland Shenzen with a special pass) and 2nd visit was late 90s. I found its more interesting in my first 2 visits. During my last visit there I found the lifestyle becoming more hectic and stressful. The ppl are not as friendly and not much smiles could be found. In short, many times, we encountered rudeness and rather rough language were used. I do not think I'll be heading back there anytime soon. Still preferred my time spent in Beijing and Qingtao (China-wise). Safe travelling.

Yan, congratulations on making it to Hong Kong, which is such a mix of old customs and modern fashion. HK has some of the best hotels, street food, restaurants and shopping of anywhere. Take the time to come back and sample the roast duck, goose and wok fried dishes. It is noisy, crowded and full of energy-- well worth a visit. You can even have a custom dress or suit made for you. The 'dim sum' tea lunch is an experience to be savored. You can feel HK's energy when you walk out.

The Dragon's Back Trail and Victoria Peak was nice, but I still need to check out the hiking trails north of Kowloon and Lantau.
