Congratulations in advance for reaching the 100k subscriber milestone, Yan. I can still remember in one of your earliest videos when someone asked you how many subscribers you had and you replied 7. The person assumed you meant 7000 and you corrected him...no, no, 7 subscribers. I had a good laugh. You've come a long way in such a short time. Keep up the good work. Congratulations again. 😊

My beloved United States is going to the dogs. Robberies are everywhere on a daily basis and our government totally fails in doing its job. We are afraid to go out at night in big cities. Now we are even afraid to go to our local Walmarts. It’s heartwarming to see that China is so safe and its people are polite and civilized. I also salute your government’s job well done. Thank you for sharing.

Yunnan has more than 46 local ethnic groups, and it's the frontier of China to South East Asia, it's where all different ethic groups of China expand and meet, so you have Sino-tibetan groups and Kra-dai groups as well as Hmong-mien groups etc all at the same place in this single province, those like Thai and Burmese went across Yunnan and finally made it to South East Asia more than a thousand year ago.

Another relaxing and great video to watch on a Saturday. I am a private investor, though in retirement, and in addition to watching the markets in daytime in this part of the world, I also trade NASDAQ stocks night time in New York, of course all online. People are dressed rather thick, as the weather might be cool on higher grounds, very much like Laos which is a country sits on a plateau.Noon would be hot with the sun overhanging over the heads, but evening and night times could be quite cold. When I was growing up as a boy in Laos, I could not possibly differentiate Miao, Yao, Yi, Huang, I have no problem with Dai minority, as I could even isole the Laotian from the Thai, they all come from Dai, as I spoke Thai and Lao in my childhood. I love their cultures and food, though I am a Han, and I see them as part of the greater Chinese ethnicity. I blacked my face, spashed iced cold water, and danced to the rhyme of Dai music, could not tell it might well be from another minority, in the festival of splashing water, their lunar new year, and I also lighted the rocket, made from bamboo shoot filled with self cooked or made gun powder, which shoot into the sky. BTW, a lot of misunderstanding to clarify. The Plain of Jars in fact is a burial place for the indigenoous people of Laos, who dominated Laos a few thousands years before the birth of Jesus Christ. They are not Dai, both Lao and Thai included, but no idea who they were actually. And the group of militia who fought for the CIA during the Vietnamese War were not Miao, the common belief. They were in fact Huang which is a branch of Miao who are more Chinese, as they write and speak Chinese, perhaps much more fluent than this young boy of me, from the top Chinese school called Lao Dou Public School in Vientiane, Laos. Our Chinese teachers were from Taiwan (RoC), and they taught us a very different ideology than what I believe nowadays. We sang their national anthem, and pledged their allegiance, not relevant to me anymore. People smoked water pipe, and in fact Laos produced a lot of tobacco. And the tobacco to pack the Brand 555 which is a franchise of BAT are grown in Laos, and the leaves are fermented in Laos, and packed in Laos, but a great portion of them exported and sold in South East Asia, and even as far as to Hong Kong. The owner of this franchise of distribution in this part of the world, or perhaps just Laos was a Chinese called Cheng. At one time, he could not take delivery of some foreign brands of tobacco imported from overseas, so the whole market did not have foreign cigarettes, and the prices shoot through the roof. My daddy took advantage of it, as the import bank was owned by our extended family, and made his first bucket of gold. The barzaars at my times in Laos could possibly split between covered ones in the urban, and open air ones in the country side. In all, they were relatively smaller than the ones seen here in the video, but in no way less vibrant I must say. I am glad to see that the people in the street markets in the video are dressed nicely and perhaps feed to full stomach, and they are all happy, and must be living a much better life, here they come a long way indeed. I am sure there might be many people from Laos, who now live in US watching your video, to get a fond memory of their days in Laos, very much like me, though I am now in Singapore. I am bringing my family to Laos this December, and quite a number of them first time to this far away country, though in fact, it is just within a 4 hours flight by air. Thumbs up indeed. I really enjoy watching the video.

China has such amazing diversity among its people that learning about them in a video simply enchants us. Seeing diverse people, customs and markets in China actually links us to that past.😊

Very interesting to see the old and different cultures of China. Even a bit emotional for some of us with ancestral ties.

Love these outdoor food stalls, although it tends to make the place dirty but the atmosphere is so much better than any in house stores they've made the vendors move into in some cities/towns.

Tamarind is unusual with its very high sugar and tartaric acid content. Interesting to learn of its use as a snack.I have always enjoyed them that way. Beautiful small orchid like flowers.

It's the sweetest AND the sourest fruit! They grow in South Florida, and were very popular with children as I recall. People cook with them, and make a drink like muddy lemonade, available in many Mexican places.

I am one of your fan and I have shared your videos with my friends. We hope one day we would visit Yuanyang. The best part of any new places is the wet market. You immerse yourselves in local delicacies & culture. Thank You for this awesome video.

Interesting town and lovely market! The cookie and meat sections were especially great, I could almost smell it :) It's a pity that even a Chinese person struggles to understand these people sometimes. Pretty sure I have no chances if I get to a place like this alone. Once I've been in the outskirts of Bangkok and spent like an hour just figuring out which bus number I need, no one on that huge bus station spoke any English or Russian...)

Thank you for the tour. I always thought Mandarin would be spoken through-out China. It seems other dialects or traditional ethnic minority languages are also spoken region by region. Very interesting.

Thank you so much for your videos. I lived in China for 6 months but I was in Beijing and I didn't get to travel much so I couldn't see all this beauty and culture. I wanna go back and just travel this time, especially to the countryside, and enjoy all the scenery and beautiful ways of living. I love Chinese people. Great channel ❤
