This is an AMAZING video!! I worked in banking for 7+ years and now transitioning to the beauty industry it is imperative that more people in this industry get educated. I always try to give everyone my advice because working from a lenders point of view, whether personal or business, it is crucial to have your numbers on point and accurate. So many people get shut down for not having proof of income even if their savings is $50k. Bank won’t lend. Thank you 🙏🏻

I really love your videos and appreciate the content you guys put out for all of us lash techs to gain knowledge from. However I have a question as in when is a lash tech an employee (w2) or an independent contractor(1099)? if they work in your business, you pay overhead costs and inventory, they work whatever hours they want, but if they have signed a non compete does that consider them as an employee since they are exclusively working for you?

Elizabeth Carrasco Our lash artists are 1099 employees, they do sign a non compete but it’s basically stating if they leave they can’t take our clients. We don’t hold anyone with us who wants to leave and branch out. If they choose to leave they have the freedom to do so 😊

Thank you so much for this information. I plan to open up a salon suite soon and I am trying to take care of the business part first. I have no clue what I am doing. I plan on opening up a business account but of course I still need to get supplies for my suite. Can I use my personal account to buy the supplies and keep the receipts to write it off or does it have to come from my business bank account for me in order to write it off?

It really depends on your states percentage.

For the last couple of years I’ve been only able to afford one pair of shoes for work and I didn’t even know I could have put it on my taxes. I wish I knew before hand and maybe then I would have been able to get two pairs. But I usually can only afford one pair of shoes and I wear them until they fall apart and then I buy new ones.

This is such a great video I took notes and everything my only question is What do you mean when at 17:37 when you said that you won’t be able to qualify to buy anything If you write everything offf ? earlier in the video you said that people try to write off the most they can to pay less taxes. Is it okay to write things off or no ? I’m barley going to start my business and I want to do things 100 % right. And I also want to say thank you so much for this video I’ve been looking for videos that talk about lash taxes specifically and you covered all my concerns

I would just double check all the things you are able to write off. Some write offs have changed ❤️

Also if you write everything off then so you aren’t paying much in taxes your income will be too low to qualify for a loan or good place to rent or buy.

Tracina Townson if you don’t have an EIN # then you can use your SSN, but for a business account most banks want an EIN # even if you are a sole proprietorship. 💕

yanet leal you would be considered an independent contractor! Keep reciepts & purchases for your business with help you save at the end of the year!

Anissa Ayala I would contact Venmo and see. We stopped using them for payment a while ago so I’m not 100% sure on how they work now. I know a ton of people use them though for transactions 💜
