Live digs on various signals and targets at several old parks using Minelab Equinox 800. I wanted to show a variety of target sounds and VID on equinox for those learning the machine or interested learning more about the detector. Feel free to comment and let me know if there are other things you would like to see in my Equinox videos. I plan on filming some hunts with the Minelab CTX 3030 as well with small 6 inch coil and stock coil.

Nice that you kept it real and show how much digging and trash is involved. I like the way you shot the video. I'm curious how you had it mounted and how you swing it when you set it down.

Thanks. I use a flexible mount clipped to shaft. I just twist it once I set detector down. I plan to use chest mount for some ctx vs equinox live digs as well.

Thanks for showing the live digs that end up being trash. Just about identical to most of my hunts, to trashy for an accurate pinpoint most of the time lol. Keep up the good work.

The first year of the Lincoln Memorial Cent was 1959. If the cent you found indeed has a wheat reverse, that is a rare and valuable coin called a Mule. All 1959 cents are supposed to have a Memorial reverse, but some of the 59's were struck on the reverse with the wheat back die and they made it into circulation.

Nice video. The equinox loves to find trash. I've never seen a detector like it. Minelab really dropped the ball on the nox to me.
@detectorben8007
@detectorben8007 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Every detector will find trash. It's on the user to understand their machine and use everything it is telling you to determine what to dig and not to dig. This video was one of my first hunts with the nox. Over the last few years I have really learned to take all the info the nox gives me and I can almost always avoid trash now. If I want to cherry pick coins with the nox I can go all day without digging a nail or bottle cap and only dig coins. I LOVE this machine. I have used and sold many other machines over last few years including ctx, anfibio multi, apex, and deus. Equinox outperformed all of them. I plan to try the deus 2 soon though and feel it has the best chance to dethrone the equinox as the top detector on the market. We will see!

Thankyou for the video Ben. I recently purchased an 800. I noticed on your second target that high depth was showing but the target was just under the surface. I have noticed the 800 can do this sometimes which can obviously be be misleading.
@detectorben8007
@detectorben8007 5 жыл бұрын
This video was shot before the software update which did improve the depth readings. It is still not perfect but most detectors I have used will do this at times for various reasons. There are some clues that indicate depth as well which will help. If you noticed when pin pointing that target the sound was high pitched and loud which indicates a shallow target. If it was as deep as meter showed it would have been a softer low pitched sound. Thanks for watching! GL & HH!

I used the at pro for years. The equinox just takes a little more practice to learn the sounds and id numbers. Dig lots of different signals and numbers to get a feel for what the nox is telling you. Watch lots of live dig videos as well. The factory programs are very good so you dont need to mess with settings much until you get the hang of it. I prefer park 2 for coin hunting. Feel free to ask my any questions you might have and I will answer the best I can. I have been using the nox800 for a few months now. Good luck!

I, too, use the AT Pro and have now gone to the 800. Watching lots of videos, but I really need to get off of the couch and actually go dig even if it's 100+ degrees outside so that I can truly learn this machine. HH

@@detectorben8007 i got my Equinox 800 a few weeks ago and am learning the many tids and sounds. It seems to go turrets on me and beep like a mad man. Any suggestions on deciphering trash from treasure?!?!
@detectorben8007
@detectorben8007 5 жыл бұрын
@@willkleespies8682 Best thing is always putting in lots of hours on a machine and digging everything until you start to notice subtle differences of target tones and how the numbers react. I have over a year and over 200 hours on my nox and still dig a lot of trash. I am still learning as well. Often times there is treasure mixed in with the trash as well. Watching lots of videos with live digs to see target id and tone of all different targets will help speed up the learning curve as well. If you are ever in Omaha area I would be glad to get together for a hunt as well. GL & HH!

Hey Ben... I just found your channel and I have subscribed because of what I’ve seen so far... I’m an old detectorist, started back in the 1970’s with my Father as a kid around the age of 10...! One lesson that was drilled into every detectorist back then was that you always attempted to leave an area looking as if no holes were ever dug there. Unfortunately, it seems as if that very important lesson seems to have fallen by the wayside...! All to often I witness people digging a hole the size that would be used for planting a small to medium sized tree while searching for an item that’s the size of a Dime or a Quarter...! This is just way too much overkill...! The worst part is after all is said and done they make some half-assed attempt, if any at all, of filling the hole back in... I can tell you that this is so damaging to our hobby...! Non-detectorist watch these videos and see firsthand that many will leave an area looking like it was once a mine field...! Then, someone like us will happen along and attempt to seek permission to search on their property only to be met with a resounding “No” because the property owner is afraid of how their land will be left looking after we’re finished...! I appreciate that while you tend to dig some bigger holes, you always seem to leave an area looking as if no one has been digging there...! If it hasn’t already, you being able to show land owners of potential sites how you leave an area looking before you leave it and move on, should help you to gain any permission that you might seek out in future digs. Thanks for sharing this with us. Have a great day and be blessed. Keep up the great work and please pass your ethics on to all new detectorist you might happen across...!

How often does auto ground tracking update?
@detectorben8007
@detectorben8007 4 жыл бұрын
It is constantly updating. If you go to the ground balance setting and watch as you swing it will vary as you swing. I have had very good performance with it on auto. If you are in an iron infested area it may be best to run manual ground balance though.

Why is your machine creaking so much?
@detectorben8007
@detectorben8007 5 жыл бұрын
Haha I dont know. Probably because I have about million hours on it already with no cleaning. I use cam locks a lot also so I think they are wearing out. I only hear the creaking on the video I never notice it when I'm detecting.

A ground cloth would make a big difference.also gets all the dirt back in the hole. don't waste your time to pitty pat the plug. heel it in so the roots don't have any air around them.with the coil you use you should never have to use the annoying pin point mode.
@detectorben8007
@detectorben8007 5 жыл бұрын
I use a cloth when hunting yards or manicured lawns. In these parks it is not needed. I am careful to fill hole in and leave area nice and clean. I have been hunting these parks for years and have even stopped to chat with groundskeepers and they have no complaints about my digging. I use the pin point mode to help determine size of target as well. It can be a useful tool in determining if a target is trash or a good target. Thanks for watching!

In this video I dug most targets to show what different targets look and sound like on equinox. If I am coin hunting and want to avoid trash I generally can. Every detector will false on certain targets like bent nails or certain bottle caps. I have dug more silver coins over last two years using equinox than I did the previous 5 years combined with my other detectors. The equinox is not perfect but it is the best machine I have ever used. And I have used just about every mid range to high end machine.
