I am really happy for Sam Staab. I hope we don't change our American style of constant attacking football and start playing the boring style of European football of passing the ball in midfield for a long period. The Spanish style is the best and most successful and fun to watch.

As to the ones who got left off, I think Emma Hayes, as she's said in her recent interview, knows how to motivate players to be their best. I think she is lighting a fire under some of the players that were left out. But I'm not sure why Alex Morgan is on the roster aside from window dressing.

I think it is important that folks understand that the Emma Hayes era is not about hyped players for marketing. It's about on the pitch performance and having what it takes to win matches against the likes of Spain. So, the quality of players she will choose will have to be technical and good decision makers with specific quality for the position they play. Lynn is an exceptional talent and athlete but I don't think she is the kind of player Emma is looking to call with respect to Lynn in a 18 man roster. I think she rates Swanson, Smith and Rodman ahead of Lynn upfront. That being said, I think we will see a changing dynamics and a more technical group of young players making their way into the squad for a long time.

hi Sophia, Smith is not a national team player. At least not yet during that game she could’ve scored a third goal and every time she barely gets touched, she falls down every single time. Her technique and shooting is horrible. I could go on and on, but I’m not gonna hate on her. She’s a kid and she needs to progress, but my opinion is she shouldn’t be on the Olympic squad. I don't like that. I hope Emma Hayes will call out players and hold them accountable for how they play if they do bad, If they do good they should be celebrated. Players didn’t perform at the level required at the World Cup 100%. But the coach picks the players on the roster, the coach sets up the formation and starting lineup, the coach decides who and when to sub (or not in Vladtko’s case). The coach plays a larger role than any player in determining whether they are successful or not. The criticisms Vladtko’s received is warranted in my opinion.

@@michaelcockayne1246 Tbh, I think that there is no Washington Spirit player that have fully grasped the essence of the Spain-Barca style of football yet because it would take more time than 3 months. They might obviously know the guidelines (though I doubt they know it better than Hayes) but to get ready to be "used" as blueprints to face them via first hand experience as a you suggested I think you would need people that have fully grasped the automatisms in the build-up, high-press sets, etc. I think they will obviously get there and Spirit (and especially USWNT) have talented players more than capable of mastering it. But it will take a bit longer IMO (I would say 1-2 seasons would be fair)

Massive!!! 🌹🌹🌹💖⚽️🇺🇸👍🤩 Now we have a new roster for the friendly with S. Korean. I like it.👍. Now since Emma Hayes directly have her decision on everything happening in USWNT, I’ll be very interesting to see what will gradually unfold . Next you’d see her in US shirt in the training , then press conference then the games, and finally the Olympic roster……..! I would not loose sleep over without Williams in this roster. I for one have been watching Lynn, she was iffy about her attacking speed and scoring. She may score some of late but months before, last year, I would not miss her AT ALL! Yes, we all expect so much from Miss Hayes with this USWNT roster at this time. I’m sure she feels the pressure as well. No doubt her reputation will be on the line but it wouldn’t break if the team won’t go far in this Olympic. Prepare yourself folks, if we go close to final this time, that is much improved since WC. But if we will be about the same then question maybe asking … No matter how the team results Will be, Hayes will continue to have our full support and let her work it out for foreseeable future forward! I’ve never thought that Sonia Bompastor would take Chelsea job over Lyonnais. But $$$$$ talk right ? I wonder if Hayes is going to live up to the expectations. She is an excellent coach, but she is not the Supercoach many people are making her out to be. People expecting a departure from the US style of soccer are going to be in for a surprise. Chelsea's style of playing has never been that different from that of the USWNT. Her teams have never been good on playing possession football (they actually never quite played it) nor I think they have to . What it would worry me is that her teams have never been good dealing with high press and have always relied too much on capitalizing the opponents mistakes (much like the current USWNT) and that is one of the reasons why she has never been particularly successful at the international level. When she has faced teams that are technically sound and organized in the press she has always struggled

I love Lynn. I really love her but her style hasn't allowed her to be effective for the USWNT as of late. She has great speed but her ball control and creativity isn't there for a forward for the USWNT. I've always said that if she can add ball control and creativity to her speed, then she'd be WORLD CLASS LETHAL. The speed alone hasn't opened any gates over the last year and it usually just seems to tire her out early. I've always rooted for her and still do on Gotham but she needs to unlock that next level and I have no doubt that she eventually will.

Once again Attacking Third ignores USA's top player and Captain., a world class midfielder for the most storied team in Europe, Lindsey Horan. She'll be starting (as always) in her second Champion's league final this Saturday. You talked about Putilla, both Coaches, even Marcario who's isn't there, but no mention of Horan whatsoever. We have a US player at the very top of the sport and Attacking Third continues the bias against her. I remember when you were promoting Sanchez, Macario, Coffee and would never mention Horan. You wearing a Girma jersey today for God's sake. Thank God the world's best coaches know what they are doing. #10 shirt for the US, Captains armband, and vital role at Lyon, starting in the most important games in the world, and the respect of the planet, but not worth a mention from you. I'll be watching Horan this saturday while you guys gush over some backup in St Louis or some injured midfielder whose hasn't half the resume of LInsay Horan, World Class Midfielder.

The problem of Emma : she is a bad loser. When she wins all is perfect; when she losses is because of this or that but never because of her. Lack of self criticism. Good luck with that.

Taking a roster spot if you're not performing, no matter who you are, makes no sense.

Williams is not a finisher, she gets many opportunities to score and blows them more often than not, lack of soccer sense!

If thats your position than you have to admit Alex is worst.....I don't think she's scored a goal with her feet since before the last WC with the Nats

I think she’ll rub some players the wrong way. She probably should have been England coach and ideally Sabrina to 🇺🇸 I can see this team imploding now

No thanks! Hayes was not wanted by the lionesses! They have the World’s premier coach in Sarina Wiegman, who opted to stay with England rather than join the USWNT.

Lynn Williams does not deserve to play on the national team. She’s not technical. She’s not a good enough player to be on the national team.

I kinda agree and disagree. Lynn can be useful as a super sub on tired opponents' legs.

The “All time” leading goal scorer for the NWSL doesn’t deserve to play on the nat’l team but, Alex “offsides” Morgan does! What are you even talking about?!

@@duuwopp no have you seen her play on the national team? Won’t you look up the stats of her playing on the national team. In my opinion, she’s not good enough to play on the national team. Emma Hayes is winning a possession-style game is not possession at all. She’s not technical whatsoever. There’s always been passed up. Under Jill Ellis and Vlako
