Love the ‘new’ (to me) website idea, Bob and company. I’ve been watching the CRVL videos off and on for a few years now and maybe I’ll EVEN make it to the next RTR. Anyhow, Bob, love your new look - the artfully trimmed beard and hair look great on you. My complements to the artist. lol Happy trails, be well.

Great video that's very educational for a newbie like myself. I liked the wind comment, one time I was letting my two person dome tent dry out after camping in the rain. I had my tent setup but not stacked by my aunt's farm. When I came outside after eating lunch I noticed my tent was gone, after climbing a tree I noticed my tent in the middle of a standing cornfield. The wind had blown my tent across the top of the standing corn. Thank you for sharing another awesome video!

I’ve been a nomad since 2018. I just let go of my van and bought a Toyota Corolla because I learned that I am content with less stuff and the Toyota gets great gas mileage. I kept my four-person tent and camp gear since they fit easily in the trunk. I am excited about the new website and will submit some ideas for consideration.

Re the heating issue. I am in my 60's but remember in "my youth" when backpacking I used these small things that looked like giant lighters. You put lighter fluid in them, light them, put them back in a cloth bag that ties shut, and slide it into your sleeping bag. I used one a couple of years ago when a person close to me was on dialysis, because they keep the dialysis centers really cold and with the blood draining out she would be freezing at times. So, when they weren't looking I would slip into the bathroom in the Dialysis Center, light one up, and slip it under her tee-shirt. They literally work great!! They are in camping sections of any Walmart, etc.

For something slightly safer than flamed heaters there are USB rechargeable hand warmers The ones I bought came in a two-pack (think they were called Go Warmer) and have multiple heat settings. They also can be used as a cell phone power pack in a pinch!

I am surprised that you didn’t mention the Propex Propane Heater which I have, it’s like the Diesel Heaters that vent to the outside but uses Propane, it works really good and a 20lb Tank last me over a Week when it’s really cold out plus I also have a Oven Stove hooked up to the same Tank, my only complaint would be that it’s loud.

Electro Warmth mattress cover 12V is the way to go. I plugged it into my Jackery on med-high + an ICECO 34 cubic ft frig. all night + twinkle lites for many hours. All that and my Jackery was above 50% in the morning. Electro mattress cover sips energy, love that! Electro Warmth mattress cover has been used by truckers for decades. At the last minute I decided to get it on Amazon with 2 day shipping. Glad I bought it as it was really cold/windy on my lake campsite. I would have had to go home without it. I'm leaving Imperial Dam near Yuma tomorrow morning to check out Blythe and thereabouts. Just way too much wind here for a tenter. I was happy to hear that this cold weather we've been having is just a temporary phase. When I left Massachusetts in September I was counting on 70s at least for the Arizona winter. Never thought I'd actually need the sleeping bag! Live and learn, but that's what the nomad life is all about, right? Also, I found New Mexico to have lots of great camps at a variety of elevations. Santa Fe at 7,000 feet was quite pleasant in early October.

@@diamondpeakproductions Mostly winds 10 mph+ with frequent gusts up to 20. Not a lot of days calmer than that. Had a couple of much stronger wind storms blow through, at least 30 mph. Just makes tent living miserable. I just moved up to the Ehrenberg/Blythe area and it's MUCH better. At this moment zero wind, not even a breeze. But Imperial Dam is showing 10 still. Something about the geography down there seems to take in wind from every direction.

Happy new year, Bob! Thanks for this new 2022 video! I have been reading a lot about using cheap bubble wrap to insulate RV windows -- great for summer heat and minimizes dripping humidity during winter. Also allows for a brighter interior as it's private but translucent...(not for sealing against light, though). Might you consider doing a video on this in 2022?

Look for the small flame on the Crisco label, it was always a fuel, I have no heat in my apt for days, the furnace is broken and no parts, I have 2 rechargeable fans I mount on a cabinet door close to the stove so that, when I swing the cabinet door open I mount the 3-speed fans vertically (need thrust bearings?) to suck warm air down off the ceiling! I usually run low to medium, which makes a melodious hum but we have upstairs people who might get spooked if I go faster. Slide em down to recharge w/the reg. computer type plugin name of which I can't remember. USB. Try that in a van. Bo Dogly is gearing up. I'd consider a supplemental water tank, warmed with your little heat to drive off the moisture, little tortuous path of copper pipe??, can of Crisco with a fat candle stuck in it, they claim 72 hours. Waste fat burns with a nicer smell than paraffin, and burned in my fireplace for days on end (mixed oils ) filter through a sock, bubble off the water, figure out a wick. Author of: American Jinn/From smokeless Fire. The fans are made for all-position use, so maybe I need not sweat bearings.

Have to laugh when you talk about terantulas. Many years ago I took a road trip from Lexington, Kentucky to Oceanside, California, traveled with my dog in a truck camper. It was the summer along Route 40. As I was drivng along I kept seeing what looked like a lot of blown out rubber tires in the road, and wondered how come so many tires were blowing. Then I was watching the road in front of me one of the "rubber pieces" got up and scurried across the road. Scared the life out of me. I couldn't get out of the car without looking down first as long as I was in the southwest.

Hi Bob....I am a big fan of your chanel, but I have to be honest, your intros are way too long! ....it's actually off-puting!

Henry, feel free to fast forward through the intros or any portion of the videos. It won’t hurt anyone’s feelings at all. Thanks for watching and learning.

Well, you could either fast forward or set the playback to 1.5 until you get past what offends you. It's located at the grear-looking icon. There are some YT presenters who speak so long and so slowly that I do their entire presentations in the faster playback mode!

It’s pretty cold for snakes but they can come out when it’s warm.

Bob, the mask with a filter paper is to filter out the Covid virus(CV) from the air that you breathe whether indoors or outdoors. So, to keep yourself safe from becoming a host to the CV. Hope this will help. I do awareness programmes in collaboration with health managers , doctors and public service organizations.

Is there any difference in small enclosed places with recirculating ventilation and out doors where the air isn’t contained and recirculated?
@dross24MA
@dross24MA 2 жыл бұрын
@@Klein-Morretti Contained and recirculating are the keys there -- yes, it makes a *huge* difference. As an example, are you old enough to remember Legionnaire's Disease? There was an outbreak in 1976 where the bacterium started to grow in the hotel A/C cooling tower. It then spread the bacteria throughout the hotel via the A/C system and people inhaled the particles, with many contracting a serious/deadly pneumonia-like disease.

An aside note: The filters need to be replaced regularly to be effective.

@@dross24MA Yes I am. The fact the government doesn’t address this for an airborne pandemic is mind boggling.
