Murray and Ant are both 6'4. D'Lo is 6'3'', but Reaves is 6'5''. The problem is not their size, it's that they are both not quick or explosive, but rather technical and methodical. Their skill sets also overlap too much. But really the gaping hole at starting SF is and has been the main reason small ball does not work for LA. Reaves can't defend starters at SG and is supposed to cover the same weakness for D'Lo. Then we have no serious 2-way option that is a anywhere near other starters at SF. D'Lo, Caruso, OGA, LBJ, AD Vincent / Reaves / Prince / Vanderbilt / Huff That would have been achievable at the trade deadline and we'd have swept Denver and be well on our way to hanging another banner. Offense wins games, defense wins Championships. Fans and LN didn't want to listen from preseason all the way to the playoffs yet again. It's always the same nonsense followed by you don't know basketball and then the stuff plays out exactly as predicted and by game 75 they adopted what some of us said during preseason and act like they always said that. LA keeps making the same mistakes. Can't wait to see LA turn 7 picks, Russell and Rui into Trae Young while we still have no starting SG or SF yet again. They also don't get that X's and O's don't play basketball, players do. There are no great plays, only good ones. There are a lot of good plays, but it all comes down to great execution and that depends on the athleticism and skills of the individuals running the plays. Likewise a certain defense might work amazingly well with Caruso and OGA and yet might be impossible with Reaves and Rui. You can't sit there and go, it's obvious that they should XYZ, when nobody on the team can actually do XYZ at the level required for it to work. The difference in power, size, strength and explosiveness between a guy like D'Lo and a guy like Caruso is staggering. They can't do the same things. Likewise the ball control, court vision and shooting of D'Lo is way better than Caruso's. So you can't task D'Lo with the defensive instructions you would gladly give to Caruso. Basketball is much more complex than a whiteboard will tell you. If you have the playing and coaching experience and can read athleticism well by all means give us your opinion on coaching, but if you are an amateur with 0 experience playing organized basketball, you have never been an athlete and are an assistant coach in HS, please stick to studying and gaining experience.
