TheDukeOfSpook The precedent the officer’s actions sets is what is scary, not the actual assumption. Using the same logic, an officer could assume any number of things about someone or a situation. It is false assumptions like the one made by him that leads to unnecessary and sometimes fatal consequences for the parties involved.

That is exactly my point. The officer's assumption gives credence to the idea of "guilty until proven innocent", not the other way around like it ought to be. You are not wrong but you misread what I wrote.
