When you’re performing for audiences night after night, there are going to be a few hiccups, but every musician knows that these just come with life on the road.
Loyal fans don’t have an issue with a few sound problems or an off-night, but these performances took it too far. Record sales went down, some celebs even destroyed albums, and in many cases, the artist’s success never reached the same heights. Some were a long time coming, while others were just an issue of wrong-place, wrong-time. Regardless, it was hard to escape the shadow of all of them. Let’s take a look at some live performances that completely destroyed careers.
#LiveTV #Concerts #Celebs
Ashlee Simpson | 0:00
The Dixie Chicks | 1:11
Robin Thicke | 2:10
Michelle Shocked | 3:23
The Sex Pistols | 4:26

Nicki Swift Your video. It didn't show any of the songs, so I still don't what performance destroyed their careers, and the derogatory term Michelle Shocked used was beeped out, so I don't know what she said. Basically this was a non-video filled with non-information.

Lol the Dixie Chicks won Album of the year, Record of the year and 3 other Grammys way after that Bush comment. So how did that one moment destroy them?
@roldoxc2094
@roldoxc2094 6 жыл бұрын
The Sex Pistols didn't destroy their career with that performance; John Lydon had had enough of manager Malcolm McLaren and wanted to end the band. This was the last performance of a band that had come to the end of its natural life. There's a difference. (The later reunions were money-orientated and not really part of a 'career'. A bit misleading, really.)

roldox c, they also got horrible. They weren't very talented musicians to begin with. Sid was picked out of a club for his looks. They are the boy band of punk.
@MartinInBC
@MartinInBC 6 жыл бұрын
The Sex Pistols weren't horrible at all; they were a seminal band of their time. Their original lineup, the one that wrote all their songs and recorded the Never Mind The Bollocks album, were all competent musicians - Paul Cook on drums and Steve Jones on guitar were well-respected for their ability, as was Glenn Matlock on bass, who left. John Lydon was considered a striking and iconic lead singer and a brilliant lyricist who wrote some songs that completely changed the music of the time. Only Sid Vicious was musically incompetent - he was indeed in the band for his look and had not played bass before, but he wasn't "picked out of a club", he went to art school with John Lydon (they and Jah Wobble, later PIL bassist, real name John Wardle, were known as "the three Johns"; Vicious was known as John Ritchie at the time). Vicious had been around the fledgling punk scene for years ... he was singer of the unrecorded Flowers of Romance, and played drums in Siouxsie and the Banshees' shambolic debut at the 100 Club, which included an 18-minute cover of the Lord's Prayer. Siouxsie and friends had basically thrown the band together at the last minute to replace another band who pulled out at the last minute. Marco Pirroni, later to be guitarist for Adam Ant, also got recruited on the spot for that gig.

The presented incorrect info as facts and 3. It's actually rude to the artist not to bother and completely miss out entire albums they released. It's more unprofessional than a lot of things featured in this video and it's insulting, considering the hard work that goes into making & releasing albums compared to literally typing the words "Ashley Simpson albums" into an internet search engine.... That takes seconds. I could do it right now, but what I couldn't do is release an entire album. See the difference?

Right out of the late '60's, the best music in history. Right from Tim Buckley through the Beatles and on to Deep Purple. Having said that, I am really sick and tired of "classic rock", because, for example, the Rolling Stones have recorded 373 songs, and I don't enjoy listening to only three of them over and over and over. Deep Purple have recorded 190 songs other than Smoke on the Water. I also listen to classical (love Mozart!), opera, mainstream jazz, blues (all varieties), and standards (love Nat King Cole!). More recently, I've leaned toward traditional country (not cowboy or Nashville), bluegrass, modern folk, singer/songwriter (love Heather Nova!), and Celtic blends. I've tried punk and rap, and just can't buy what they're trying to sell. What's the point of protest music when the only people who can stand to listen to it are the ones who are doing the protesting? As for disco, I use the analogy of a bout of diarrhea that one had to suffer until it passed. I also don't have much respect for pop or cowboy/Nashville, but at least they have many artists who can sing properly.

Natalie Maines didn't tone anything down. She is an even harsher critic of Trumpf, and thankfully so. The Chicks continue to enjoy popularity.

I started listening to The Dixie Chicks after their second album and I loved it, still do, my problem lies with seeing them in concert. Maybe it was because it was in Wichita, Ks but it just seemed like they didn't want to be there. I know some bands don't sound exactly the same but I've been going to a lot of concerts since 1981 and that was the worst I've ever been to.

A few years ago a friend asked me to go see Michelle Shocked, saying she was incredible. We went and not too far into her set she pulled out a cell phone, called her husband and talked with him on speaker so we could all hear for about 10-15 minutes. Then she told him she had just wrote a new song and wanted him to critique it so she put the phone on top of the piano. played the song, then with the phone still on speaker he proceeded to do just that. If that wasn't bad enough she then proceeded to spend another 10-15 minutes talking about the time she was raped at a missionary camp. To say the least it was an uncomfortable evening as well as oddly boring.
