Thanks for the tip but I don't think the Ace Combat community needs a reminder that Vincent Moretto exists, lmao, as far as I'm concerned he's responsible for the era of covers and fan compositions that we live in today. Well... Partially. Check out Net Zone and Lucas Ricciotti when you get a chance, instead of straight covers they do original compositions using the themes and motifs from the games.

I really recommend Nassault's Blockade video. They recreate the mission in DCS. The combination of Keiki Kobayashi's composition and the visual storytelling from Nassault really elevates what is music for a relatively mundane filler mission to a new level.

The Ace Combat Infinity remix of Blue Skies comes in the final campaign mission of the game. Operation Bunker Shot has been foiled by the enemy dropping ASTEROIDS FROM ORBIT on the UN Task Force, casualties are high, defeat is inevitable, everyone is on the verge of despair. And then ISAF rallies around the Player and goes "fuck you, we're seizing victory from the jaws of defeat", and that's when the music kicks in. It's a glorious Ace Combat moment.

Glad to hear you're going to play AC7 soon, I can't wait! I'm really sad I couldn't get to see this live (had a family obligation), and I wish I had because 1) Blue Skies Infinity Remix is my favorite Ace Combat track of all time and I've always wanted to watch you react to it, I'm glad I got to see it with the VOD :D and 2) there's a LOT of misconceptions that were shared in chat that I feel need to be cleared up in case someone reads them and takes them to heart. Apologies for the long comment, but I just wanna make sure these are corrected. 9:08, 1:19:33, 1:19:42, 1:20:07 Contrary to popular belief, Ace Combat 7 was not delayed specifically to create Daredevil, and Keiki Kobayashi did NOT ask for Ace Combat 7 to be delayed to recompose Daredevil. It was already delayed. They just took the opportunity to make Daredevil last-minute. 36:49, 36:59, 37:54, 1:10:25, 1:42:51 The modern port of AC5 is NOT available in any purchase of AC7 anymore. These chat messages were referring to a trick that has since been patched. 48:28 The choir here may be faster, but they do NOT cut any of the lines. 1:41:38 See above, the access to AC6 is NOT available in any purchase of AC7 anymore. There was never any trick for this one. It was only a pre-order incentive, like AC5 was intended to be as well. 8:32 Blockade is not Keiki Kobayashi's first composition to be played in the series. That title goes to ISAF, which was the track right before. 20:38 That track is Stonehenge, not Naval Blockade, and it's from AC04, not AC5. 22:40 That was not a transition into ISAF, that was a transition into Heaven's Gate. It uses the same motif, but it's much different. 30:44 Comona was not played in this concert. 31:44 As said earlier, Heaven's Gate was used as the transition between Stonehenge and Invincible Fleet. 33:11, 35:27 The Latin in Megalith Agnus Dei has extremely important meaning, as Marco himself explained in this video and in his original reaction to Megalith. Most of all, "Agnus Dei" itself literally means "Lamb of God", it's a Christian allegory. 55:50 There is no in-universe author of The Journey Home. The claim that the song is Yuktobanian was made-up. 1:09:09 AC3's release in the west was not fumbled. The game did so poorly, Namco did not have the money to localize it. 1:13:43 AC7 has no servers, it's peer-to-peer, so that online will always be technically available. Just need the people to play. 1:16:50 AC7's multiplayer is not cross-platform. 1:40:10 AC6 has never been ported to any platform. 1:52:12 There are no tracks in Joint Assault subject to DMCA takedown claims. All Joint Assault tracks are original to that game.

Oh man, watching this is such a treat. Something that I love about this rendition of the Liberation of Gracemeria is the part where Kobayashi has the audience clap along, it goes along with what you said, about each instrument getting to play the melody, each one is highlighted and gets to play a part, and so what is awesome is that even the audience plays a part, it's like this rallying song, a song for the people, a song that involves you not just as a listener but as a participant, that is always great in music, but it is especially fitting for the storytelling of this theme. Thank you Marco!

"A Brand New Day" played at the end of the concert was an encore if I remember correctly. It is also my absolute favorite ending themes from the Ace Combat series. The mission prior, Chandelier, was singing about our dark, snowy night. All the Earth sleeps beneath a blanket of white, darkness clouds the skies, snow falls without end. Afterwards, the sun comes and our new day is here. "Even after the darkest nights, morning always comes. Those we have lost gave their lives to bring the morning light. Living each day to the fullest is the highest tribute we can offer to their memory." - AWACS Ghost Eye

I came for Ace Combat music. I stayed to get educated on classical music. Thanks! Archange is one of my favorites because of the specific sounds it uses in the track. The piece was specifically tailored for the section it belongs to. The jet engine sound used and the electronic piece because of the importance for the character (the pilot you are facing), being assisted by machines in order to keep on flying. Mihaly is actually an old man who should have retired long ago, yet there he is.

The AC5 remix of Blue Skies is my favorite song in the series, specifically because it's also the exact type of music my grandfather, who was a Master Sergeant working on F-4E Phantom IIs as a crew chief in the USAF and Air National Guard, absolutely loved. My grandfather passed away in 2006, and hearing this song reminds me of many of my best childhood memories simply because it reminds me so much of him and the love for aircraft he passed onto me.

I’ve rewatched this multiple times already and I have way too many comments to make about each segment. Suffice it to say, it is a great concert and I really appreciated the commentary, Marco! Your thoughts on the music theory and composition, given your own personal training and experiences enhanced my enjoyment of this concert. Thank you! Addendum: Given Keiki Kobayashi’s very versatile composition over the years, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was classically trained before branching out to Blues, Jazz, and Flamenco.

01:35:48 Liberation of Gracemaria is such an integral part of AC6 and so thematically relevant I can't imagine AC6 without. The sense of anxious wait for something great to come, hope and yet still an underlying sense of weight and importance on what is about to unfold. The sense of grandeur at every point of it is just so much. To this day that music makes me excited for the liberation of fictional place. As someone who to this day has AC2 OST on their phone and gets giddy when Fire Youngmen starts, I can't emphasize on how much music has been part of AC experience to me. Thanks for the video.

I've played AC2 and I couldn't beat it, then AC3 happens twice, AC4 twice, AC5 3 times, ACZero once, AC assault horizon once (rebirth is a beautiful song), AC6 once and 4 times the AC7. In none of these episodes had I realized the fantastic songs that had accompanied me until I started to find and listen to them on KZfaq. Anyway, thank you very much for the video and I already want to one day enjoy AC8 and its music💪💪💪

I’m glad you reacted to Blue Skies (Infinity remix) is this. To me, it is the track that represents Ace Combat as a whole, honestly I think it’s because I’ve watched this amazing tribute video a few times: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jcCilZaQvJexnWw.html (spoilers for Zero, 4, 5, 6, and 7)

1:38:46 All I can say is that it's amazing how they make such perfect decisions when they can't fail, like the harp here. 1:42:14 From this point onwards, the rhythm really starts to go out of whack, albeit slightly. 1:42:36 This master violinist brought all the rhythms back to normal. They're shaking hands at the end, so maybe it's on a different level.

The Journey Home is mellow and seems different and not suited for an Ace Combat game compared to Blurry (AC 5 opening)-by Puddle of Mudd- but its usage in the game is an experience cause the song emphasizes peace in war
