I just picked this up last week. So far I'm fairly happy, but I've been seeing some inconsistent results. Not sure if it's me or the machine, but I'm keeping at it. I've paired it with the DF54 grinder as well.

Can't wait to hear your reaction to the new James Hoffman video about RDT... seems pretty interesting.. especially having the Gen 2 df64.. might still want to keep doing RDT from his video :)

DF54 is one of the best in the line due to the size of the Burr. Flat burr design at 54mm it's a great size for grinder.

I currently have a Barista Express and have used the DF64v4 for the last year. While I enjoy my Breville machine I have been looking for something with better temperature control, 58mm portafilter, and without a grinder as I don't use it. This is going to be a PERFECT replacement! I just placed my order with espresso outlet with the $100 discount. 😊 Another review mentioned the top doubling as a cup warmer, is it more/less effective than the Breville?

The 54 mm portafiler on your Breville is actually an advantage it has over this one.

I have the Breville Infuser, so I compared the Turin Legato to that. Neither have a grinder so I have added a DF64. The Turin gives steam very fast vs a 30-40 second wait on the Infuser. I have had to have my Infuser repaired, and it is that great, very little communication and they have never told me what the problem was that they repaired. The Infuser also has a small drip tray, so they are comparible it appears. The Turin may have a very slightly smaller foot print. Cost is almost the same between the two. I feel the edge may go to the Turin based on Hoon's review.

Legato would sound like a much better price point at $400. It's in direct competition with Breville. Maybe it'll sell here based on a temperature control that has one degree centigrade increments. But most Breville machines have PID. It has a timer but scales do too. Is it going to be that much more attractive with 58mm basket? I don't think the question is about Rancillio or other more expensive machines. It's about what it is compared to what value Breville provides.

@@JoeMaloneOnTheMoon I agree with all you have said. My post should have said I'm NOT happy with Breville after service. They fixed it, it was relatively expensive and never explained the problem or what was done to fix it. I believe it is a better deal than the Infuser, and is very competitive to the Bambino+ that has fewer features. BTW, I got my daughter a SD40 for Christmas. She's not down the rabbit hole - Yet.

@@brodybarnes1969I would definitely consider something like the Legato and was thinking about going for it but then it went to $500. So instead of selling my Bambino and all the 54mm toys I’m gonna be satisfied for the future. I have had difficulties with Breville service. A part got lost in the mail from a website order and I worked way too hard to get any service from support. Finally they agreed to resend the part but then it was out of stock. Anyway I appreciate your response. I hope the SD works out for your daughter. I got the v2 64 and it’s just now getting some seasoning and a little better tasting.

SD is fine enough for good Espresso shots. Think about electrified 1zpresso kmax.

I pre-ordered the Legato, but I haven't been able to find details on what portafilters are compatible with it. I know its 58mm and I see it has 2 ears, but cant confirm much else. I see you're using a non-Turin PF. Can you give any insights?

Bambino + might be a better comparison than the GCP to the Legato.

It's interesting that all these KZfaq videos over the past few months have been raving about the Turin, MiiCoffee, Gemilai... that has been around for the past 5 years. So, why now? My guess is that Turin (Espresso Outlets house brand and really the only thing they almost ever have in stock) is trying to capitalize on the recent success of the DF64 grinder. And all these KZfaqr's are, shock, bought and paid for?

A little late on my part, but I think its because they are just now available (or marketed?) in the US. Probably could have got one a few years ago in the US, but now its easy to do so when before it wasn't.
