This was a historical event at the time when Black Sabbath reunited for the first time after Ozzy had been fired from the band and no one ever thought they would play together again. At Live Aid the greatest concert of all time (yes even better than woodstock) was a special treat for the Sabbath fans.

They had something like 1200 people working the event and it occurred in two stadiums separated by an ocean that was televised to an estimated 2 billion people. I have always loved Black Sabbath and Ozzy. I remember being in HS and paid $50 for a ticket to see Ozzy in concert. I saved up my money, at that time was a $5.15/HR job, part time. I saved gas money, and the cost of the ticket for myself, an a friend, and he broke his ankle that year, and canceled the consert. I kept my entry ticket. I never sent it in to get my money back. I legit have Ozzy ticket thats never been seperated. It's worth a million dollars to me!

I was in that crowd, 17 years old, between high school and college. My friends and I weren’t really Ozzy fans, but I have to admit they won me over that day. Somehow, we ended up not far from the stage, and I get a kick out of trying to spot us in the crowd (so far only in Clapton’s “Layla” video.) It was insanely hot that day, and eventually they turned fire hoses on the crowd, and it was like heaven. Best concert of my life, hands down.

Izzy still had that problem in the 90s and 2000s,i saw him at ozzfest and he was fucking ancient, and that was like almost 20 years ago. Back then he was so old he was hobbling around on the stage throwing buckets of water on the crowd, missing half of the vocals for the songs cus he was too busy trying to get the crowd to clap to the beat. It was really pathetic. My girlfriend at the time was like "I feel sorry for ozzy" I was like "he's like the prince of hell or something, you aren't supposed to feel sorry for him" , She's all "but I still do" and she was right.

all the Ozzy/Sabbath live album vocals are later studio overdubs (the lone exception being the Bark At The Moon VHS which has been officially unavailable since the mid-eighties because of that). On bootlegs of the same shows he normally sounds like s**t. The exception being the Cleveland tape used for most of Tribute which is really good even without the overdubs, copy-pastes and other little fixes they did in '87. This Live Aid clip is also definitely one of the better authentic live vocals I've heard from him. The vocal harmonizer does wonders here.

@@arto2533 my dad saw him in 86 on cliff burton's last US date before his death (the richmond Coliseum show) and I've heard the boots for that and obviously it was an amateur bootlegger but his vocals sound great as hell. And my dad could vouch that he sounded just as good as well
