One gorgeous day in the Eastern Sierra, we set out on what was supposed to be a glorious and joyous hike up to Independence Peak. This was not that. This was not that at all.
However, when all is said and done, we are very grateful for incredible California hikes like this one, an awesome hiking community to join us, and all our Live Hard x Love Hard friends who have made this the most wonderful year of hiking yet. Happy Thanksgiving ya'll!

I had no idea how much Adam actually has in common with me. I'm not exactly 6'6" but, I'm 6'3, have lower back pain that I work through the best I can and I've had Crohn's since I was 16. I'm 37 now. You two inspire me to reflect and improve on my own physical potential. I've permanently checked the worst of my Crohn's and trying to get whatever health I have left after years of the ravages and some of the Crohn's manifestations I still have to be the best I can. Thank you guys for sharing health details with us to allow me realize I have a chance at a higher potential. My strength is mainly walking trails a long distance where I live whenever I can. When I went to Yosemite this Spring at least I was able to out pace my family on the Valley Loop Trail. Shortly after that I discovered your channel. You guys throwing in that little "Crohn's Attack" detail really meant a lot and very helpful to know. You guys are so real and you're the best. Thank you! :) Happy Thanksgiving.

Corey I've had it since I was 16 too! I'm so happy that mentioning it is helpful for you. Of course it is a deficit for us physically, but if you think about how much stronger it's made us mentally, especially surviving those late teens and early twenties when Crohn's is truly devastating, there have been benefits too, right? I would argue that it might even be a net help to my climbing due to enhancing things like grit and determination. I hope it will be that way for you as well. So glad that you found us, and feel free to ask questions about it in the future. And Happy Thanksgiving!! ❤️

is there anything that can be done if crohns acts up on trail
@LiveHardxLoveHard
@LiveHardxLoveHard 8 ай бұрын
@@gridirontrenches5010 I carry some prednisone with me on overnights, so if the small intestine completely closes up and I can't keep down water (that's the biggest danger with the kind of Crohn's I have) then I can take the prednisone and hopefully reduce the swelling enough to hydrate. If it happens on a day hike, I just have to stay cool and get myself down ASAP.

Hahaha this reminds me of Clear Creek trail going up Mt Shasta. When I got to the base of the mountain it was dark and I couldn't see any trace of trail, so when i started going up in the scree, for every step you took it would take you half a step backwards. It's really mentally trying. Its was great going down though. Each step was cushioned and you can go pretty fast. Awesome hike as usual guys! Thanks for sharing. Happy Thanksgiving!

Loved seeing Kearsarge Pass from this vantage point. The “poles” debacle made for some endearing Puss n’ Boots moments (“love me”) from Elise and a really poignant realization from Adam to the camera that he can’t let even the greatest love of his life throw him out of his game. You deserve a recovery day or two.

Hi, guys! Glad you’re doing well, Adam! Re: Williamson… I know you will plan it well, but the George Creek, I’m told by a close friend, is a booger-bear! The easiest way is via Shepard Pass and Helen Lake. The advantage there is you could do Tyndall Peak to. Of course it would require a 3-3 day backpack! Oh, and you could bag Mt Keith too from there! It’s 13,980+ ft. But of course you guys have to do The Black Kaweah first! 😁! 🥰💕🎹🎶

Wow, that was a lot more to see than I expected from this video! Sorry that you've had to endure so much, Adam! But yeah, your wide angle cameras are not doing justice to these climbs... sometimes it's hysteric to see how you are almost crawling on something that looks barely sloping on footage, while in reality I imagine it being a 30 degree slope. Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving! And thank you for taking us on your adventures!

Thanks so much, Neyda! I'm sorry to hear you have UC and I sure do understand about the unpredictability of planning adventures. But as you can see from all the stuff we do, it can definitely be done. There are a few specific things I do (like bringing prednisone on any adventure longer than a few hours just in case of obstruction) and then there are other contingencies as well. Kearsarge is way easier but still incredible. And you park at the ridge on the road pullout. I didn't even know this was Independence Peak. That is the creek that took out a mile of dirt and wiped out the road to Shepherd pass TH. should be fixed by now. If you go up the creek. Then jump up left of creek it is the bowl on Independence side. I like the going to opposite peaks. So the view of Kearsarge and University and Keith Gould Dragon Williamson is stunning. STUNNING. Tyndall? Now Kearsarge Peak is literally the same except better because you are above Golden Trout and looking down into Onion Valley. Bam. IF FROM WAY OUT OF TOWN you do Kearsarge Pass and Mono Pass (Tom's Place) one not Yosemite TH. Because they are 6 and 4 miles in. SHORT. As for Peak I will always go with Gould. Because it's huge and right at Kearsarge Pass. Literally 1200 feet higher. 14k I am doing Tyndall. Because it is badass viewpoint. Camping at Shepherd pass by the lake. ☕️ on top of Polychrome. Video blog vs Reality and time management. Do not pay to camp. Drive into town Independence Park. Chill. Or pay and do by creek right outside of town. Bam. Warmer in winter. Mount Williamson hotel is okay conveniently located. THE TRI TIP BREAKFAST BURRITO UP IN BIG PINE IS LIFE CHANGING. Right side going north.
