What’s new in the world of liver transplantation? We will discuss the rapidly changing epidemiology of liver transplant causes, the surprising news about transplant rates and long-term outcomes, and how to improve the likelihood of successful transplants. Danielle Brandman, associate professor and director of the UCSF Hepatology Fellowship Program, and Shareef Syed, assistant professor of surgery and director of the UCSF Abdominal Transplant Fellowship Program, will take us on a tour of the landscape of liver transplantation.
Speakers:
Danielle Brandman, MD, MAS, is an associate professor of medicine and a hepatologist, specializing in treating patients needing liver transplants. Her research interests include nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and post-transplant metabolic syndrome. She is also the director of the Hepatology Fellowship Program and chief of service of inpatient hepatology at UCSF.
Shareef Syed, MBChB, MRCS, is an assistant professor of surgery and a general surgeon specializing in abdominal transplantation. Shareef is also associate director of the UCSF Surgical Skills Center and director of the UCSF Abdominal Transplant Fellowship Program.

No comments? All I can say is that posting Grand Rounds is a great service globally. Here I am, an infectious disease epidemiologist at a certain major School of Public Health and School of Medicine about 550 miles north of you but south of the Canadian border, and UCSF Grand Rounds is the first place that I “go” for continuing education and new thinking on various topics of medical and public health thinking. Thus, a deep thanks to you, my colleagues. It is always worth an hour to watch Grand Rounds.
