I love how Ragnick was nothing at United. Everybody laughed at the "open heart surgery" quote, and years later, we still need exactly that. Now he's linked with a better team in Bayern 😂

1) it wasn't "years ago" it was less than 2. 2) nobody laughed at him. We had all been saying the same thing for years before he came. 3) the open heart surgery was attempted by Ten Hag, £400m spent replacing half the team. He signed more than what Dr. Rangnick prescribed and we're back to the same place. 4) The structural rebuild has only just started, new CEO, new director of football, new technical director + Sir Dave Brailsford.

Liverpool need to be very careful about turning this into a Barcelona situation where they have instilled a permanent identity that the team plays by so when a coach comes in to change things up they become unhappy because it’s not what they are used to seeing despite the team playing well in a different system. So if Liverpool are getting Arne Slot because they want to keep the “Klopp way of playing” nothing good will come of this in my opinion. * Don’t know much about Arne Slot but I don’t think he’s worth the risk he hasn’t had a lot of involvement in big European tournaments and hasn’t won the league title in his own league like Amorim has so looking at everything as a whole it just seems out of left field and random.

The more i see about Slot, the more impressed i am about him as an upcoming manager. But you make a good point about keeping the Klopp-style alive. I’ve never had much criticism against Klopp but the one thing about him that frustrated me is his seeming lack of a plan B or C when the heavy metal football isn’t working, as we’ve seen more often in the past couple of seasons as teams have become to used to it and learned how to play against it. Of course how the team plays is dictated to a degree by the players bought in to fit the style, but it would be nice to have a coach who could sometimes mix up the tactics when plan A isn’t working. Most of the time we see Klopp’s response to a tough to break down team is to bring on impact players who are similar in style to the ones they replace but this doesn’t always work.

Not clueless.. Alonso never wanted to leave his club which means Amorim was actually the first contact. Seems he’s waiting to compare other options from different clubs but Liverpool isn’t patient bcos the season is fast coming to an end. The most important thing about Slot needs to be that he is a very very good coach. He doesn't have to have the grand father personality of Jurgen because its actually not necessary. Jurgen has things about him that are not necessarily needed to make us a winning team. Id prefer a good coach who maybe has more ideas than even Jurgen, than the personality of Jurgen. I like the look of Arne. We have Edwards and Hughes to run the club. Arne just needs to be a more expansive version of Pep Lijnders.
