Finally, a nomad who was conscious of having a recyclong area in their home on wheels. It should be a part of every build and should be part of every nomad home tour.

Yes! That’s so true. I hope you’re also considering using as much recycled material as possible in your build. We really need to keep that in our planning process

The ladder adds a nice touch for stealth. They will think you are a handyman! John Rambo the dog, sits on the doghouse! All you need is an entrance. You have done a lot of work in this van, impressive! A serious amount of construction. Very nicely done. I like your pallet wood wall. I did the same for my RV. I used a Dewalt 20V Sawzall with a metal blade to cut right thru the pallet wood and salvaged a lot of it. Also made some wine racks/ book racks out of the pallets. What a beautiful walnut countertop!! Lucky you, finding this. You pay a fortune for this in CA, no walnut trees around. I would not use this as a cutting board, you will ruin it! Get a thin bamboo one instead. For the shower, if you replace that straight rod with Extend-A-Shower, you can get more elbow room inside. Nice trick. It pushes out for showering, and pushes in for hanging wet clothes or keeping curtain out of the way. On the diesel heater, just so you know, several KZfaqrs bought the cheap $200 versions on Amazon, and had great success. The alternatives are Webasto, Espar, Trumi and they all cost $2K - $4K range! Try the Chinese one. Comes with a flat diesel tank as well. Great job, Kaza! You have a lovely home and I admire your DIY skills. Bon Voyage! If you are in the Santa Clara, CA area, do look me up.

A really nice build. It looks like they put a lot of thought into using the space well. I really liked the shower/pantry build out idea, and the straight edge was kind of cool.

For the wooden pallet portion, for anyone who doesn’t know. Wooden pallets some are treated with chemicals to keep bugs from getting inside the wood. Obviously those very same chemicals emit toxic fumes. Select pallets that have not been treated or that are same for indoor use.

I love the potential of a step van and really like his layout. Something he might consider, which will improve his stealth as well as market his business would be to put up a vinyl sticker or a wrap or paint a nice business logo, advert with the actual phone number on the side. If people see the ad, they are in the same area and it could really give him some solid work. Just saying. I don’t know where he is or I would volunteer to help with that.

Ask Caza if he parked his step van in the middle of a Home Depot parking lot in Tampa, Florida this year in 2020 or last year in 2019. Been several months but I thought I saw his step van with windows and the side ladder and stuff on the back at Home Depot or it could of been different one similar to his setup. I do remember seeing the chimney stack sticking out the roof. I was admiring the step van and thinking how cool it was.

Nice build out!!! As for the grey water freezing issue, there are self adhesive silicone heater pads that you can buy for this issue. A friend of mine also took the initiative to buy some 1/2" soft copper pipe and created a serpentine flat coil which he glued to the bottom of the grey tank. This coil is connected to the radiator and heater system to the truck and he can start it up and let it idle to warm up the engine and tank. He also has plans in buying a Webasto dual use heater that heats hot water and air. It would allow him to isolate the grey heater from the engine completely. It has an initial high cost but will save in diesel fuel in the long run. Take care and stay safe Seven!

I love you step van. The only thing i would want different is i would want the fold up lift on the back. First because i have a wheelchair second because it would make a perfect deck while parked. And 3 and biggest reason it would be extra security for my back door.

I've got a 5.9 Cummins in mine because it's the most dependable, long-lasting and proven engine out there. On the interstate I get about 10 or 11 miles to the gallon with just the truck and it weighs about 8200 pounds. I'm doing actual fuel tests measuring out the fuel to get exact miles per gallon to get actual fuel results in miles per gallon = mpg. I slowed my truck down to around 40-44 miles per hour and I broke a new record. I got 42.5 miles to the gallon with AC and cruise on and drifting off hills when I could in neutral I have a manual transmission. The truck will even get better fuel mileage than this if I slow down more. I think if I drop it down to the maximum slowest speed I can drive in 6 gear it's capable right at 50 miles to the gallon. I've come to find out the more you lower RPMs which mean revolutions per minute engine speed the better fuel mileage you will get in anything. Basically slow down speed limit, put a overdrive Transmission in it if it doesn't have it, taller tires on your drive axle and gears closer to a 2.52 drive ratio ring and pinion. The faster you drive the more fuel you burn and the more wear and tear on everything at higher RPMs for extended periods of time. The most I ever towed with my Cummins with truck and trailer was 23,200 pounds and it didn't feel too good it pulled it but it was swaying and rocking back and forth and didn't feel good over 35 miles per hour. Thank goodness for trailer brakes or I wouldn't have been able to stop. And that was my 2500 single rear wheel Dodge 5.9 cummins long bed 4 door truck that weighs 8,200 lb. And the trailer I was pulling was 15,000 pounds for a gross weight of 23,200 pounds. And no trailer sway bars at all. I really needed my 3500 dodge dually long bed 5.9 cummins with 60 more foot pounds of torque to tow the 15,000 trailer. And the dual wheels it has for more stability.
