The only thing that Berlin wins in is having 24/7 transport, spatis, food culture and of course vibes. Berlin has vibes

I agree . But after sometime, it gets really exhausting and one just needs a break from all the Berlin frenzy.

How is rent in Leipzig, today, say a 1-room apartment? I imagine everything's got expensive over the past 1-1½ year.

Berlin is by far the most international city in Germany, closely followed by Hamburg. Leipzig, however, is very international as well by Eastern German standards as there are a lot less foreigners in Eastern Germany. Leipzig is definitely the coolest and youngest city in the East.

First, great video :) Second, a bit opposite than you, I've spent a lot of time in Leipzig over the last few years, and I also visited Berlin 2x. So my points would mostly go towards L :) ...also, on the topic of diversity, true there are less people from Middle East, Asia or Africa in Leipzig, but the city is actualy very diverse when you look at it from a European perspective, a lot of people from South, East and SouthEast Europe as well as from Turkey can be seen in the streets of Leipzig, and I guess that is also why the locals are generaly very friendly and polite to foreigners. Plus, ever since the Middle ages, Leipzig has been a university and also a place of international trade budiness fairs and exhibitions, which makes it very cosmopolitan 😊 My No1 city in Germany 🏆🥇😎

I can totally agree with your comments on cleanliness, it is almost always the case with capital cities, just shows what kind of people live there and their culture.

Love your content! It's been super helpful. We are heading to Leipzig in July/August and wondering if you have any recommendations for quieter, nature-connected neighborhoods with good transport links for accommodation? Any advice would be awesome! 🥰

I live in Leipzig for almost 6 years and can also confirm that Leipzig is more mellow and slow pace, but can be also depressing sometimes. It has a lot of nature, but I would not say that the city is super clean. It's probably somewhere in the middle of most German cities. Job opportunities are better in west German and Berlin, but are growing since companies are moving to Leipzig. I also wouldn't say that Leipziger are more friendly than typical Berliners, the mentality is quite similar, but yet different. The Berliner might be rude and direct, but once you warm up with him, they're quite nice. Also on a political level, Leipzig is quite extreme, it's pretty left winged but still has a significant amount of "AFD - people" (right winged party) All in all, quite similar cities but yet very different :) the

Yes, I feel that the East, especially in Sachsen and Thüringen, is a much more divided in terms of political views than the West. Among students in Eastern Germany, you will often encounter many people who belong to the hard left, while among the elderly population, many share views compatible with AfD.

Hahaha, you are so right about Berlin. I like the city, it is interesting and has vibrancy but yes, as a German myself I have to agree that the people are just really rude there (even by German standards haha). I live outside of Europe now and whenever I am in Berlin these days, I always get a reverse culture shock due to the rudeness

I think she needs to rephrase this to "German is not as widely available in Berlin as it is in Leipzig". :( I cannot believe the capital of Germany has so many shops and other businesses where employees can't speak German! What the???
