#livingincostarica #lafortuna #Ticoculture :Living in La Fortuna Costa Rica Why We Live/Stay in La Fortuna w/ Costa Rica Matt" Living the Pura Vida in Costa Rica. La Fortuna way of life. michael alan of Travel Costa Rica NOW living in La Fortuna Costa Rica.' The simple life. Does Tico culture run off to expats? What about immersing oneself in the culture?
In this video, 'Living in La Fortuna Costa Rica Why We Live/Stay in La Fortuna w/ Costa Rica Matt' we are chatting about living in Costa Rica. Normally, Matt and I are discussing real estate as Matt is a real estate agent/broker in the Guanacaste area of Costa Rica. But not this time. This video is just 2 friends chatting about Costa Rica life. D'Angelo and I in La Fortuna and Matt in the Tamarindo area. What do I like about living in La Fortuna? How does Matt view La Fortuna on the outside looking in? Is this area (Alejuela) similar to the Guanacaste area? Is the culture the same? Grab some coffee and enjoy the discussion. And again, NOT about real estate.

Back maybe 2010 Arenal was still erupting. I happened to find Los Logus stayed two nights but the awesome thing was the rooms had the big windows that had a great veiw and you could lay in bed and watch the volcano all night.

I think you guys are underplaying how great Costa Rica as a destination for kids. My youngest was 3 when we first came to Costa Rica and he had a blast seeing everything from San José to Puerto Viejo to Tortuguero to Arenal and Monteverde to the beaches of Guanacaste around Tamarindo all the way down to Manuel Antonio. It's a great vacation destination for kids, even young kids. Living here is a different story. Outside of the GAM (San José metro) it's definitely much harder to keep kids occupied with activities when living here full-time and not in "vacation mode". And outside of the GAM is where most young families attempt to live when they move here. You definitely have to work much harder. Especially with older kids like pre-teens and teens.

@@CostaRicaMatt I'd say the only exception is if you are a surfing family and eat, sleep and breathe surfing. All the people that I know with kids who have been down here for a very long time are typically surfers. Outside of that the people that I know who have been down here a very long time are older and on their second... or third (or more?) families. Married a tica, had more kids, etc. If they aren't a diehard surfer and they aren't old... it's usually only a few years that they stick with it. We'll face this issue ourselves as our oldest (who was the youngest that I mentioned in my original comment) approaches his college years which isn't all that far away.

We actually had to leave because our teenager was struggling. However for children(and dogs), best place I've ever been. Still plotting to move there again at some point, though.

Great video chat with my two favorite people in Costa Rica! Both La Fortuna and the Tamarindo coastal area have much to offer and are very different experiences to be sure. My first trip to Costa Rica last year I booked with Travel Costa Rica NOW all of my activities while in the La Fortuna area and some in the Tamarindo area. Can't recommend Michael's agency enough, especially if you're new to Costa Rica! Was able to meet with Matt and spent time with him as he took me around the Playa Junquillal area to get a feel of the real estate market in the area. Matt is another person I would highly recommend regarding purchasing real estate in the areas he services. There's no one better and he's very passionate about what he does. Look forward to my next trip to Costa Rica after the high season next year as I plan my next move to Costa Rica :)

Angie and I loved our time in La Fortuna and were quite impressed with the small town feel. The restaurant scene was also very nice. To one of the commenters points, maybe a video on the rental situation from La Fortuna, Lake Arenal and to the Guanacaste area that Matt lives in ( Not sure if all he does are sale, but if rentals, that would help as well). when we visited you we were hell bent on the Pacific Coast in the upper mountains, but after visiting La Fortuna and Lake Arenal, let's just say it opened a whole new world of possibilities. Keep being you, and good to see Matt as well.

I loved Costa Rica when I was there 10 years ago but could I live there now, at 67?? Don't think I could adapt anymore, too old. Yeah, when I was in French Guiana people were up at 5.30am but indoors by 7.00pm and in bed by 9.30pm. Different strokes.

Costa Rica Matt! One of maybe two real estate agents here in CR that I will actually refer people to. ❤ Matt, we found our paradise and we're not too far from you! We bought a farm on the slopes of Miravalles, with easy access to Hwy 4. Love this part of CR. I saw you in a promo for a relocation event in Jaco that's coming up soon. Will you be speaking at that? Hrmmm...maybe I'll just message you....

Yes Fortuna has lots of resturants, and lots of things to do. Great shopping for gifts, some will bargain with you, some are fixed price. Lava Lounge and Aniciaos Italian are our favorites. Mistico is great for early, early morning. 10 days minimum.

-----i´m pretty sure you can read this, otherwise put it in a translator.------me llama la atención escuchar a michael decir que las ciudades aquí son sombrías, que temprano en la noche todo está cerrado, que no hay mucho que hacer en entretenimiento y mucho menos para los niños. las ciudades por naturaleza son lugares sombríos pero para la naturaleza. ya sea liberia, alajuela, la fortuna, los angeles o miami. tal ves lo que pase para los extranjeros es que si no ven una ciudad en movimiento de horizonte a horizonte sientan que están en un pueblo fantasma. pero no olvidemos que esto es un país muy pequeño que era muy pobre hace apenas 40 años. new york tiene de estar encendida desde principos del siglo pasado. y allá la gente está enloqueciendo. en fin, esto ojalá siga siendo un paraíso natural por muchos años más, aunque se torne aburrido al rato. las grandes ciudades en USA y todos los otros grandes países son inmensos témpanos de concreto, asfalto, acero y vidrio. por eso es que los turistas sienten la nececidad natural de escapar de ahí. pero venir aqui ya no como turista sino tratar de "make living" no es tan fácil.
