Amazing!!!!!!! I used to live in my 06’ Commander base 4.7L V8 4x4 over 250,000 miles for a year and half when i was jobless and homeless. I’m in reno nevada, I just bought other jeep. 07’ Commander sport 4.7L V8 4x4 like my first one again last month since i don’t need a fancy one. I like plain and simple option as love the 4.7L V8 motor!!!

Jeep Commander's are classic. The best Utility vehicle available ever! Second only to the Wrangler in some cases! Good use of your's.

Love my commander! I agree, wouldn't mind getting a Wrangler in the future. Planning on making a bunch of upgrades when I get back from this trip. I'll be doing a more in depth tour of the Commander in a few more videos.

Glad I came across your video. I'm planning to go nomad in my Commander later this year. Although I still intend to acquire a drawer style fridge, your video has opened my eyes to how much I've been overthinking this aspect of preparation.

Thanks! Would definitely love so many upgrades and mods! Just finished building and installing new bed. Next up solar and a fridge/freezer, duratrac tires, etc. Would love to one day get a WAM bumper. Thanks for your support!

We’ve all had that experience of patting your pants and not feeling one of those. Since I run around so much, if I lost them, it could be anywhere.

how was/is the jeep working out for you? I'm looking at getting a new vehicle for a cross country camping/backpacking/chilling trip with me and my girlfriend. How was the reliability and fuel consumption for long trips? did you find it big enough?
@JustBecauseMikel
@JustBecauseMikel 5 жыл бұрын
It is just big enough for me. For 2 people you could definitely sleep in it, but would want more roof storage if you’re doing some serious/long term traveling. It’s a super comfortable ride and got me through some pretty rough stuff. I have the 3.7 version though so it felt under powered going through mountain passes! I wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for reliability. I ended up having just having the regular stuff go out on me. Power windows, water pump, tensioner pulley, ball joints. All stuff that should be serviced for a Commander around my mileage. I put on 11,000 miles on this trip and currently am at 122000. It’s a fun vehicle to drive, but would recommend the 4.7 or 5.7 as they are a true 4x4 my 3.7 is awd. All that being said, I’m pretty married to her after all we’ve been through. I would likely replace big things if they went out instead of buying a newer (more reliable) vehicle. Or just get another commander 😂

Why does your jeep have a 4x4 badge but no 4lo or 4hi controls?
@JustBecauseMikel
@JustBecauseMikel 4 жыл бұрын
Jeep wants you to think it’s a true 4 x 4, but it’s basically four-wheel-drive all the time. A fancy way of saying all wheel drive. My Jeep commander is the base model, or “sport”. The limited has much better features.

Love my Jeep Commander two opinions why don't you just get a box that bolts to the top with a lock, or why don't you take both rows of seats out and unbolt them you'll have a ton more room. You're not using the second or third row seats anyway why not free up the space
@JustBecauseMikel
@JustBecauseMikel 4 жыл бұрын
A box bolted to top would be great, but harder to access the supplies inside and to be honest I was too lazy to do that. My commander is a sport so it didn’t come with the 3rd row. As for the 2nd row, you’re definitely right. I should’ve taken that out sooner. When I got home from this trip, I reworked a bunch of things in the Jeep, including taking those space wasting seats out and constructing a new bed. More to come on that!

My dad is thinking about getting a 3.0crd diesel model here in the UK, he currently has a Land Rover Defender 90, but it sucks as its too small and 1940s design more or less. I just moved into a new apartment/flat but dogs are not allowed. My dad has two dogs, so I'm thinking he could visit me and sleep in a Jeep Commander with the dogs. A minivan/mpv would be slightly more roomy but they are not exactly a vehicle that my dad would be proud to own. The UK Commander has a Mercedes diesel, Mercedes 5 speed auto box and built in Austria and they have lots of cool toys and features. I have a 2004 2.5crdi Kia Sorento which is great too, but a Commander is imposing and luxurious. Thanks for showing a realistic "living in" video.
@JustBecauseMikel
@JustBecauseMikel 4 жыл бұрын
Wish we could get the diesel in the US! That would be a sweet rig. Good luck at the new flat. The Commander would only be a little tight with 2 dogs dogs in there, but should work. I have since upgraded the whole inside of the Commander with a much better bed platform and storage underneath. Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for watching, more videos soon!

I know plenty of people that have had good experience with the commander as a daily driver. The biggest thing is preventative maintenance. Replacing things that are worn before they break. I personally just use mine for adventuring, but still stay up on maintenance. Check out one of the Jeep commander Facebook groups. A bunch of knowledgeable people on those with endless forums.
