@@trulivingtampa Thanks! I really like the discussion in the last live stream on taxes and cost to live in the Tampa area. I struggle with, what looks like a 1.8% state property tax, and then moving to Florida and ultimately retiring there. Especially when your income starts to decline due to being retired. So the "No Income Tax" does not work out as well. The info on House Bill 1371 that was discussed is helpful but still would need to understand how some of the other taxes would work to maybe offset the higher property tax. The other area that is tough to work through is most all of the homes in safety harbor, palm harbor, Dunedin, Clearwater are smaller 1800sqft, have an older or odd floor layout, and need major fixing up... even for houses in the $600k range. You don't see that in Arizona (Chandler, Gilbert) or metro suburbs in Michigan (Kalamazoo).

Yes you can. You also get regular typhoons, flooding, blackouts, internet outages, 3rd world infrastructure, and popr quality food. Pros and cons everywhere.

@@trulivingtampa well it’s more fun in the Philippines and that’s the truth, haha. Lots of hurricanes in Florida though. Same old American lifestyle, but yes you as right…better have solar/battery backup, lol.

@@trulivingtampa I’ve got an opportunity to take a nursing job at the VA in Tampa, seriously considering it…but we’ve never lived in Florida before. My wife is Filipina and she will love the weather…and me too. Any new housing in the 300k range?

You can get a newer townhome in that $300k range and some smaller 3 bed single-family homes in Wesley Chapel. Not from form the VA.
