Hey John first of all let me see congratulations on formulating a plan to retire in 2024 especially here in Thailand.. Also obviously thanks for watching.. I have done a video tour of my unit here I will go back and try and find a link to it for you.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iL53a8yWqdWsYJs.html to be honest with you I don't spend a lot of time in my room I'm usually on the go quite a bit I'm quite physically active and I enjoy exploring I love getting out doing things... again my life is pretty fantastic I go on a lot of hikes I do a lot of nature stuff I go to the beaches I swim I eat some of the most incredible foods and I go exploring I jump on my bike and I drive sometimes hundreds and hundreds of kilometers just to go and see a park or a waterfall or stuff like this.... again as I have stated in all of my videos I do not spend a lot of time and especially a lot of money at the bars drinking I do drink as I have made it very clear in my video probably too much but I'm drinking at home for the most part or I'm drinking it small restaurants and stuff like this where they're not having these crazy markups on the alcohol.... I would find it very sad if I had to come here and just live the life of a hobo but I'm definitely not living like a hobo I'm living what I honestly consider to be the most amazing life in the world and I wouldn't trade it for anybody's or possibly Andrew Tate's but other than that.... Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by bored, I get bored during rainy season if I can't go out for a couple days, because I do not watch TV and I like to keep as active as possible. If I do find myself getting bored on living on Fantasy Island, LOL I take a trip to somewhere,,,,, There is so much to do here that I can't see myself ever truly getting bored. Look I worked like a dog sometimes 70-80 hours a week, being able to do nothing is an amazing luxury! I do find spending too much time just lounging around the pool can get boring,,,,,,,, I KNOW THE STRUGGLE IS REAL LOL Hope this answers your question. Cheers Mate

Hey John thankfully right now and probably for the next couple of years at least you're going to be able to get incredible deals on accommodations here on Phuket... what I would suggest to anyone thinking of coming here is go on Facebook marketplace change your location to Phuket and look at the places that are available for rent you can find literally hundreds of places under 200 US dollars a month... if you're looking for a really nice fun laid-back place to live and you're not concerned with the craziness of Bangla Road, Bang Tao and Surin are incredibly amazing places and cheaper than Patong, But right here if you wanted to stay in this area there's hundreds of places that are so affordable.... Currently a visa exemption stamp is for 30 days, (so no visa required) it is said that this will increase to 45 days from 1st October - 31st March, but is still to be confirmed. However, both can be extended in Thailand for 30 days (45 if the 45 day one comes in) for a cost of 1900 baht at any immigration office. So currently you can stay in Thailand, without a visa for up to 60 days, if the 45 day stamp comes in, up to 90 days. Hope this helps.

The Visa situation is really just dependent on your own personal needs... However being able to jump on my 3000 Baht scooter and drive through the mountains and through The Valleys here along the shorelines and see the beaches.... to me that's Paradise being able to stop and go for a hike and not have to worry about someone stealing my bike or stealing my helmet or harming me for that matter.... we all have a different version and a different ideal of our best life but don't shame anyone for living theirs just because it doesn't match up with your ideal... Hey Luke I'll tell you exactly why I did,,, I moved into the pool house just for one month because I wanted to see how much I would like living a different lifestyle and whether or not I would consider it worth the dollar value to have a pool villa.... and at the end of the day I did not find that the cost trade off was worth it I didn't use the pool as much as I thought I would It certainly didn't add any value to my life that's for sure and again the kitchen that was there I used it possibly two times Luke I did however use the charcoal barbecue that was beside the pool often I think I had barbecues six or seven times but what I did was I bought a small little charcoal barbecue and I have it here at my new place where I've been for 7 months and I'm a hundred times happier here and it is a quarter of the price! So quite honestly the pool villa just didn't make me happy in the end,,,, and that's what my life is all about it's about being happy Hope this answered your question Thanks for watching and commenting Cheers Mate

Hey Tech Guy, Honestly that is a very hard question for me to answer. There are several factors to consider,,,,, How old are you would be the first one,,,, I am now 50 and I hope to live 30-40 years. No male in my direct family has ever lived past 64,,,, that's not promising LOL Knowing how I live and that I like nice things for myself (What I mean is that I buy top quality items that will last a lifetime) and that I love to travel I worked out how much I would need to spend a certain amount of money each year until I died if I had ZERO INCOME! Now to be fair I do have income from my investments and that is what I live off of each month. I invested in a monitored equity fund with IG in Canada, and I receive a set amount from the dividends each month. I am not working at all anymore. I did plan to do some consulting and coaching work, but I just don't want to. I also own rental property, but I DO NOT touch the money from that. I save that for when prices increase down the road, plus I live a great life on my current budget. When I hit 60 (which I will) I will start receiving my CPP (Canada pension) and then when I hit 65 (I BETTER MAKE IT) I will get my Old Age Security pension from the government. I would say that if you live here in Southeast Asia and do not spend like crazy on booze drugs or women,,,,,,,,,,, 25k USD a year will be more than plenty to accommodate for emergency's that will arise We all live different lives, I've had all the bullshit possessions that people think they need to be happy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, they never made me happy Experiences are what make me happy and feel fulfilled Hope this helps Cheers Mate

They do have all of the stuff to make tacos at home but man it's expensive when you add it all up.. I like to take my charcoal barbecue sometimes and have taco nights around my resort or I'll invite people over and I'll make tacos and it's expensive it really is

you get 45 days visa exemption now then can extend not sure if that gets you another 45 days or 30 days extra so i would sort my retirement visa after i arrive in thailand, will probably have to use a visa agent to overcome some hurdles ie bank account with 800, 000 baht but its all possible on arrival,

I don't eat just street food and I don't eat very much deep fried anything other than chicken.. I never eat at BK MCDONALD'S or any place like that. We have lots of noodle shops and salad options around... As for the stuff adding to to $20 a before Don's,,,, sorry Mate but that's not me and my budget. Where's your detailed budget?

I don't talk a lot about the Visa situation because everyone here can be and are on different visas,,, I originally came on the STV and have been doing covid extensions since. As far as my expenses being too low can you tell me which ones you feel are too low? Rent? Bike? Food? Booze????? I'm not sure which ones you feel are too low I log every single baht that I spend I've done that for the past 15 years,,,, so although I respect your opinion I would question which one of my expenses you feel is too low... No question at all look back at the video I did about renting a room here and you will find that there's all kinds of options for $200 or less no question at all it's going to be a smaller studio room with no kitchen or anything like that but it's going to be less than 200 US dollars a month no question Go for a walk down 200 year road and you'll find all kinds of places advertised go over to Na Nai Rd You can easily find a place for $200 or less

@@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean Almost the same cost of living with BKK - anything imported is very expensive, etc. Buying or renting a house is cheaper - I bought my condo for 600.000 (+20.000 taxes).

Oh that's not being rude or anything I actually really respect and want to answer your question in complete and total honesty... to be honest with you I do not miss having a home because I do own a house in Canada I also own a condo in Shanghai China.... I would love to have a dog but in all honesty my lifestyle has never afforded me the timethe luxury of having a dog because I have traveled so much and I worked usually 10 to 12 hours a day. one of the things I absolutely love about Thailand is there are stray dogs everywhere so I have developed relationships with so many dogs here I go to see them all the time they know me when they see me they get excited I bring them food I play with them. As far as the family aspect that is a complicated thing that I really can't get into too much on KZfaq but let's just say I'm very happy in that aspect just a little removed from the situation at the moment.
